People often assume and expect that we remember every detail of a major event in our lives like a camera. But traumatic memories are not processed the same as regular ones. Fear, threat or intense stress during a traumatic event can result in an incomplete memory. Unfortunately, these kinds of normal inconsistencies are often used to undermine victims’ credibility in court trials. It's time to debunk the notion that victims should remember every single detail of a traumatic incident. Recognizing how trauma affects memory is crucial for creating a justice system that is trauma-informed, ensuring fair trials for both the accused and the victims. #Memory #Trauma #TraumaHealing #TraumaInformedCare #Healing #Survivor #VictimServices
