Delighted that this was approved and that we were able to be part of the effort!
CAMPAIGN VICTORY! A top campaign of ours -- DM23.1, to report on allowing 16- and 17-year-olds to vote in neighbourhood polls -- was passed by Toronto City Council! Vote16 Canada extends our gratitude to the motion's sponsor, Councillor Dianne Saxe, Ph.D, GCB.D, to the motion's seconder, Councillor Lily Cheng, and to the Toronto City Council for their strong majority support for passing this motion. Lastly, a huge thank you to all our volunteers and allies who have supported the campaign. Your support and contributions are vital to our ongoing efforts to advance democratic revitalization across Canada. Your support and trust means everything to us. Implementation of this change following the City Clerk's report will be a major priority for us in the coming months. I think a LOT about the role of #storytelling in civil discourse and #democracy, and this week's The Samara Centre for Democracy event promises to be brilliant. With legends like Connie Walker and Nahlah Ayed together, how could it not be? I'll be there for sure.
