Introducing the newest iteration of Savron's Rapid Screening Tool (RST)! The ultra-portable RST vessel rapidly test up to 1.5 cubic meters of contaminated feedstock via STARx technology. The updated design includes fork pockets and a low-profile, lightweight roof for ease of portability. It also incorporates a rear wall that can be removed for efficient feedstock loading and unloading. These new features enable rapid mobilization and material handling. The full RST piloting system, with all process equipment and controls infrastructure, can ship in two 20-ft shipping containers and can be prepared for operation in one day. The RST provides an attractive option to evaluate smoldering treatment at new sites, with batch treatment volumes in between our column (bench-scale) and pilot systems (10 cubic meters). Savron offers in situ and ex situ solutions for contaminated soils and organic wastes using smoldering combustion
About us
Sustainable Solutions Savron is a multi-national provider of sustainable waste management and remediation solutions, specializing in the safe, energy-efficient, environmentally responsible treatment of a broad range of hazardous materials. Savron’s solutions help organizations in the oil and gas, waste management, chemical manufacturing, and utilities industries manage environmental liabilities and comply with regulatory requirements. Our solutions are based on Savron's patented technology – an energy-efficient self-sustaining combustion process that captures and recycles the energy released from hazardous materials to destroy them in an effective, controllable, and safe manner. A broad range of hazardous materials including petroleum hydrocarbons, coal tar, creosote, mineral oils, and solvents can be treated by our technology. It works faster and to a dramatically higher environmental standard than common hazardous waste disposal practices such as thermal desorption, incineration, solidification, or landfilling. Our solutions are available directly from Savron or through partners in the Savron Preferred Consultant Network and include treatability testing, pre-design evaluations, system design and construction / fabrication, full-scale system operation and management, technology licensing, and technical support and equipment supply.

Had a fantastic time at the Manitoba Environmental Industries Association #CleanTech conference in Winnipeg yesterday. Thanks to everyone who put on a great event. Always interesting to gather with other environmental industry professionals and share ideas and innovations. Especially enjoyed Robert Bilott’s talk on bringing PFAS contamination to the forefront. We had an exciting day with our Grade 9 students during Bring Your Kid to Work Day, where they learned how to use science and engineering to tackle environmental challenges. The students experienced both an in-person and a virtual-reality tour of Savron Solutions Smoldering Systems and Fire Laboratory, as well as a visit to SiREM Lab's laboratory and bioaugmentation culture production facility. They also took part in Canadian Operation’s Idea Generator, a brainstorming session focused on applying innovation and technical excellence to our work. We are eager to see how these budding scientists and engineers shape our future!

When it comes to remediating contaminated soils, we can operate just about anywhere. Our latest challenge? Thermal treatment of 100 m3 of PFAS-impacted soils in the Mojave Desert. Savron recently conducted a #smoldering demonstration in partnership with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) to evaluate treatment of PFAS for a wide range of feedstock conditions (e.g., soil type, moisture content, co-contaminants, etc.). A total of 10 batches were completed using our HP10 (10m3 feedstock volume) treatment vessels. In order to achieve the high temperatures required for PFAS destruction, we added low concentrations of different surrogate fuels, including granular activated carbon (GAC), anthracite, and spent GAC. We also incorporated calcium oxide (CaO) to enhance thermal decomposition of the PFAS. Stay tuned for results from this demonstration! STARxpress: the final frontier for PFAS-impacted soils! Introducing Savron’s newest smoldering treatment system; the #STARxpress. Designed for rapid deployment, this mobile treatment facility, which includes two ‘F35’ #smoldering vessels and an equipment container, is entirely containerized and can ship on only three standard 40-ft flatbeds. The STARxpress system can be packed, shipped, set up and operating within a matter of days. This August, Savron wrapped up a successful operational period in Anchorage, Alaska, as part of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) demonstration. The STARxpress system applied smoldering treatment for the thermal destruction of 335 cubic meters of #PFAS-impacted soil over a series of 10 batches. Analytical results demonstrated post-treatment PFAS levels below ADEC MTG success criteria. The STARxpress system can effectively process up to 70 cubic meters of contaminated feedstock per week and batches can be turned around in a single day. I will receive the John Hem Award from the National Ground Water Association, which will be presented in Las Vagas during NGWA Groundwater Week, Dec 10-12 (https://lnkd.in/d_EMk3U8). I am honoured to be included among the many notable past awardees! The John Hem Award for Excellence in Science & Engineering is presented by the Scientists and Engineers Section of NGWA in recognition of a significant, recent (within the past five years) scientific or engineering contribution to the understanding of groundwater. The award is presented annually for a significant contribution to either a single publication or a body of works. #Groundwater #Geosyntec #Savron

Just over a year after initiating the project for thermal destruction of #PFAS in soil using #smoldering as part of the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU)/SERDP & ESTCP demonstration, Grant Scholes and I had the opportunity to witness the unloading of freshly treated soil from the #STARxpress System! The Savron Solutions and Geosyntec Consultants team is thrilled with the results... and the views are hard to beat!
