Sawa World is on an exciting journey to identify and partner with youth entrepreneurs transforming their livelihoods and communities using local income skills. Our team recently journeyed to Mityana District, Central Uganda to visit Osborne, a youth entrepreneur who is using innovative techniques to run a flourishing passion fruit farm on a small piece of land. He shared game-changing insights on fruit farming, from soil preparation to post-harvest handling. Want to learn this local income skill? Solutions From Within
About us
Sawa World believes there is a way to end extreme poverty for billions of people on our planet. The solution lies in the minds, hands and hearts of those who suffer it most. We called them Sawa Leaders; unsung heroes who have themselves been among the one billion people living on one dollar a day or less. Their solutions are documented and shared by vulnerable, unemployed youth in their communities. The youth are trained by Sawa World’s local media partners to become community reporters (Sawa Youth Reporters). Sawa Youth Reporters produce short videos and regular updates about the practical solutions and impact of Sawa Leaders and present them throughout their region and through local media. This allows other impoverished people to feel inspired and to replicate the solutions in their own communities. And it allows the Sawa Youth to find leadership in their communities, and in themselves – to become the Sawa Leaders of tomorrow. Sawa focuses on the world’s poorest countries and ensures these solutions are shared and succeed as locally created, permanent solutions that thrive independent of charity and foreign aid. This unique strategy, repeated many times over, will result, sooner than we ever imagined, in a world free of extreme poverty. A Sawa World!

A Glimpse into #SawaWorldDay2024 The Sawa World Day celebrates and showcases local income skills and the transformation they create in the livelihoods of youth in Uganda and globally. This year's theme, "skilling women to transform communities" shines the spotlight on women as key changemakers within households and communities. Over the two days, 260 participants from Kamuli and Iganga Districts in Eastern Uganda gained hands-on training in three local income-generating skills. To make this training impactful, the participants also received business management training to equip them with knowledge on transforming these skills into sustainable and thriving businesses. This aligns with Sawa World's vision to create a world without poverty where youth living in it lead their way out, a Sawa World (an equal world). Visit https://lnkd.in/dYPt_Jdr to watch stories of transformation from the youth we have trained. #SawaWorld #SolutionsFromWithin #NoPoverty

This year, we had the exciting opportunity to revamp the Fondazione Italia Uganda farm in Luzira as part of the Seeds of Hope Project. We redesigned and established various types of gardens, including self-irrigation gardens, pipe gardens, nursery beds, tyre gardens, and more. Each garden provides unique solutions for sustainable food production and income generation. Seeds of Hope emerged in Uganda as a response to the food insecurity increased by the COVID-19 pandemic. In collaboration with Fondazione Italia Uganda, Sawa World introduced urban farming practices aimed at reducing hunger in the Acholi Quarters community located in Luzira, Kampala district in Uganda. #SawaWorld #ItaliaUgandaFoundation #SeedsofHopeProject #MondayMotivation
