  • The Scotiabank Asian Networking Group (SANG) hosted an incredible Diwali Celebration in October in both the New York and Houston Offices. Diwali, also known as the “festival of lights,” is one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India and among South Asian communities worldwide. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. SANG has over 300 members and represents all Asians, Asian Americans, and Native Hawaiian/ Pacific Islanders in the Scotiabank U.S. Region, providing a forum to bring together Scotiabankers to explore and celebrate Asian culture and festivals and promote networking opportunities.

Dr. Mays discussed past and present events that shaped American Indian/Indigenous history following the arrival of foreign settlers, and experiences intersecting with enslaved Black Peoples.
