Google reviews aim to reflect an individual's experience with a business. However, the ranking often reflects more than just the interaction—it encompasses the reviewer's personality and perception.

The idea of an AI-powered receptionist or customer care representative for home services companies is gaining momentum and is featured by almost every CRM or FSM in the marketplace. Many business owners struggle to maintain a high level of responsiveness and professional phone handling. Software companies (and their investors) love adding a revenue stream to their software-as-a-service pricing model. Reality, however, may interfere with the plan to have a customer communicate with a smart bot that knows everything, replies quickly, and has impressive capabilities to link problems to resolutions. We tend to prefer talking to other humans in three areas: our family, our health, and our home. Unlike booking a table at a restaurant or a timeslot to bring in the car, when it comes to selecting a service provider to enter our home, the interaction with a company representative is part of building trust. We also expect some empathy and understanding from someone who can relate to our issue. Even when we name the bot Oscar or Josh, it does not make it feel more human. I may be blamed for being 'stuck in the past' or 'too old to understand where the world is going'. The people who believed less than 20 years ago that by 2020, we would all be using smart glasses that add interpretation to what we see, flying on planes without pilots, or having no cars that aren't driven by automation may think the same about the role of humans when it comes to home services.
