Digital Content Strategy Co-op @ Segal Graduate School of Business | Marketing & MIS

Yesterday marked my last day as the Vice President of Marketing Design at SFU Business Administration Student Society, a role I had idolized since my first year at Beedie. As the last project to wrap up my term, I took on designing our annual impact report, the very first of its kind. The process of visually curating our impact numbers, showcasing our 9+ new initiatives, and visualizing the data collected from our annual student sentiment survey has left me proud beyond words as this impact report highlights the substantial contributions made by the general council towards engaging our community and enhancing the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University student experience. This year, BASS has made tremendous growth across all sectors; but for the purpose of this post, here are some impact numbers extracted from BASS’ Marketing efforts: 📱 150% increase in the amount of content produced 📣 64.8% increase in social media reach 🗳 91% increase in election participation compared to the past three years 📈 29.3K website impressions 📝 46% increase in total applicants 📝 128% increase in first-year applicants 📢 4.25/5 average rating of effectiveness of BASS's marketing & communication efforts To my design-wiz coordinators: Arizsa Francisco, Christine Hui, Jazmine Khaseipoul, and Keyaan Vegdani, I am so lucky to have been able to hire my dream team. I am always blown away by your dedication to producing your best work. The numbers above are a testament to the time and care you have put into every assigned deliverable this year. It has been an honour to be your vice president and to watch you grow into the powerful designers that you are. To my ever-so-talented executive team- Julianna Graham, Owen Midgley, Wesley Yiu, Umair Subhani, Emma Jamal, Zawad Muhammad Zihan, Brandon Thaci, Alicia Lee, Zayn Shehata, and especially Termeh M.: all of you have been such positive influences on my life. I can truly say that I have worked alongside the best of the best. Our collective win as Student Organization of the Year was nothing but a testament to all of our hard work this past year. 💙 Lastly, I am excited to announce that my time at BASS is not over just yet; as I will be returning as a Senior Advisor to help transition the incoming executive team!

BBA Candidate | Teaching Assistant at SFU Beedie

Today marks the final day of my term as President of the SFU Business Administration Student Society (SFU BASS). This has been an incredibly rewarding year with so many lessons, challenges, and accomplishments. Reflecting on our accomplishments, I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication from the entire BASS council. This year we achieved remarkable milestones, including the successful launch of nine new initiatives, laying strong foundations for advocacy and transparency, a notable 91% increase in election voting participation compared to the three-year average, and a 4.25/5 overall satisfaction rating from our student body. These accomplishments are a testament to the collective commitment and passion from the BASS council. Our impact report with more information will be released in the following weeks. I’m thrilled to share that BASS was recognized with a major award from the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University, the Student Organization of the Year award. This is BASS’s first ever group award recognized by the university. I was also honoured to be recognized as the Student Leader of the Year by the Beedie School of Business. My presidency has been about having different hats and knowing when to wear them. I love that embracing this multifaceted role has pushed me to become versatile and adaptable and substantially grow across a spectrum of skills—leadership, problem-solving, marketing, budgeting, strategic vision creation, event planning, stakeholder management, persuasive pitching, and so much more; the list is endless. As a student body president, I’ve gotten to make decisions or support the decision-making process for nearly every large-scale issue (and lots of minor ones too!) across every portfolio in the organization. In a role that requires you to be everything, I've learned to reconcile my perfectionism with the reality that mastery takes time. I've embraced the importance of patience and self-compassion by allowing myself to give my best effort while remaining open to learning and refinement. I've discovered that no one excels at everything and the importance of deferring to the expertise of my executive council through collaborative problem-solving. I learned to prioritize honesty and transparency, acknowledging when I did not have all the answers, but collaborating with my team to find solutions. Every challenge has been an opportunity for growth, and by reflecting on the root of each challenge, I’ve learned so much. I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve my student body and for all the friends, lessons, and memories made along the way. Thank you to my dedicated executive team: Wesley Yiu, Owen Midgley, Alicia Lee, Emma Jamal, Termeh M., Himika Paul, Umair Subhani, Zawad Muhammad Zihan, Zayn Shehata, and Brandon Thaci for your passion, countless hours, and trust in this process. Wesley Yiu, I’m looking forward to cheering you on next year and am excited to see where you take BASS next!
