Today is a great day! 🙌 SheBoot hosted Katy Yam, ICD.D, for an exclusive fireside chat for our founders and investors led by Julia Elvidge. When asked about what she does as a Partner at Real Ventures and the General Manager of FounderFuel, Katy said, "My job is to elevate founders." This was crystal clear in every insight she shared during our discussion. It truly was a masterclass in navigating the world of startups and venture capital.🚀 Here are just a few key takeaways from the session: ⭐Attend events and practice your elevator pitch with everyone you can. Test what works and refine what doesn't. There’s no better way to refine it than testing in real-life scenarios. ⭐Go where you shine! Talk about what you know, what you love, and the problem you're solving. Be so passionate it's convincing. Tip: Katy will be your worst nightmare if you claim you're an AI expert or that yours is an AI company, and it's not. ⭐Your goal when talking to an investor is to get another meeting. That's it. ⭐Create FOMO: time your fundraising strategically. Book focused, impactful periods or "sprints." That way, when you're asked who else you're meeting with, you'll have a list ready. ⭐Build relationships with analysts, not just VCs: They're the gatekeepers. Make them your allies and champions, too. Our founders walked away with actionable insights and sharper strategies. 💡Thank you, Katy, for sharing your expertise, stories, and energy with us.
