  • Today, we're raising a toast to our Tech Lead aka Chief Nerd extraordinaire aka Viper, Mike Metcalfe, on his 5-year team anniversary! 🤓 Mike's journey with us is quite the story. He originally joined in a different role, and just three months in, COVID threw us all a curveball. But true to form, Mike adapted like a pro. He quickly dusted off some old knowledge, picked up new skills and played a crucial role in launching our revamped vision of Simpl.AR. Talk about adaptability! Since then, Viper has been our behind-the-scenes wizard, consistently making the magic happen and leading our tech team to new heights. With his skills-oriented approach and chameleon-like adaptability, he's been the secret ingredient to our success recipe. When he's not being our tech lead, Mike is busy being an awesome husband, dad, and coach. His leadership extends beyond the office, inspiring us all to bring our A-game every day. For real, though - we wouldn't be where we are today without his brilliant ideas and unwavering commitment. He's been the cornerstone of our development, and we can't wait to see what he cooks up next! Here's to you, Mike! Thanks for five years of next-level awesomeness. We're pumped to see what the next five years will bring! 🍻 🥂 Please join us in giving Mike a virtual high-five! 🙌

  • Huge props to The Community Factory for the shoutout in their newsletter, The Engaged Attendee! They get it! Events continue to level up, and #AR is one of the the ways to do it.   This article hit on some next-level AR experiences like graffiti that comes to life in Miami’s Lynwood Art District (yes, your phone turns street art into an actual show). And how museums are ditching the old-school docents for AR guides that make exhibits fun, interactive, and accessible. Events are using qr codes in their invitations, making the invite more engaging.   Big thanks again to The Community Factory. Most sessions that we attend at conferences suck, and it's our own fault. 😬 If we want sessions and content at events to improve, we must provide feedback. As a speaker, receiving this feedback is so important, so we can improve what we're providing to our audiences. Here are 5 quick reasons as to why attendees should give feedback to events and their speakers: 1. Shape Future Content: Your feedback helps speakers tailor future presentations to be more relevant and impactful. 2. Encourage Better Experiences: Constructive input pushes speakers to improve, making future events more engaging. 3. Voice Your Needs: Let speakers know what resonated or missed the mark, so they can adjust to better serve the audience. 4. Foster Growth: Your insights help speakers refine their delivery and boost their expertise in the industry. 5. Show Appreciation: Positive feedback reinforces what worked and motivates speakers to keep delivering value. Thanks to the feedback I've received from the last few events I've spoken at, I've been able to level up my presentation to make it more interactive and engaging. During my session at PCMA EduCon, for example, the audience was fully involved with deciding and customizing an AR activation for that event. Check out which graphics they chose below! (Big thanks to Kristi Casey, CMM, Carolyn Ray, the PCMA Education Team, Anh Nguyen, CMP & Shawn (Yih-Hsiang) Cheng, and to everyone who provided feedback of course!) Your feedback drives better events for everyone, do you agree? Simpl.AR

  • Case Study: Bringing A Summer Campaign To Life with Augmented Reality Brand advertisers' affinity for and recognition of AR's potential continues to escalate. AR marketing campaigns continue to show strong metrics when compared with 2D benchmarks...proving real business cases. TELUS Spark Science Centre, with the assistance of Press + Post, wanted to boost exposure for its 'Bugs & Bytes Summer Science at Spark' campaign. Given the campaign's larger-than-life replicas of bugs on-site, they turned to AR to bring a few key bugs to life off-site to draw people to TELUS Spark to see the animatronic bugs in person. In total, there are 15 animatronic bugs to see at TELUS Spark, each of them so large that you'd think you were on the set of "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids!" Three bugs were chosen as the subjects to be re-created in AR. When activated through mobile AR, these bugs came to life and could be re-sized and placed on any surface, creating photo and video opportunities to share. The bugs also included information hotspots to help educate users about each one, incorporating learning along with the fun. The call-to-action is a quick and simple way to purchase tickets to the exhibit. Press & Post worked with Simpl.AR to pull this off from a creative and technological perspective. Large vinyl signs were applied to the floors at various locations in Calgary, which served as physical markers to activate the AR. This made it user-friendly for their audience to engage with—check out the video below! Using web-based AR reduced friction further since users didn't have to download a specific app to engage. One thing that has made this campaign work, in terms of best practices, has been the way the AR experience aligns perfectly with the campaign itself, "Bugs & Bytes". Press & Post knew that AR's capabilities were aligned with TELUS Spark's overall experience and branding, and it turned out to be the right tool for its campaign awareness goals.

  • Shoutout to the crew at Press + Post! We dropped an #AugmentedReality activation at TELUS Spark Science Centre. We love the result—it brings some serious fun and an educational experience for folks who engage with it! Thanks for letting us mix up the digital and real world to get people hyped about science and learning. #SimplAR #TELUSSpark #ARMagic #ScienceIsCool
