Our Word of the Month series is back! Word of the Month features an Inuktitut word, pronunciation and translation to highlight the importance of Indigenous language revitalization. This month's word is Aquivik / ᐊᖁᐃᕕᒃ which translates to "November". In Aquivik, antlers fall off Caribou and the ice is beginning to freeze. Thanks to the Qikiqtaqmiut Management Committee for SmartICE in Uqsuqtuuq (Gjoa Haven) for the word via the Qikiqtaqmiut sea ice terminology booklet. You can access the full terminology booklet on the Ice Safety page of our website. https://lnkd.in/eiYSPk2Y Let us know how this word is spelled and/or pronounced in your dialect below! #WordoftheMonth #IndigenousLanguage #IndigenousExcellence #Revitalization #SmartICE
