The Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Social Impact at Smith School of Business strives to generate knowledge, leadership and capacity to create a better world. Humanization and sustainability are at the core of everything we do. We aspire to create careholders not just shareholders, focusing on changing lives and perspectives by tapping into hearts as well as minds. We will achieve this by inspiring and supporting the success of new ventures, building innovation capabilities in people and organizations, and fostering research, education and community engagement on responsible leadership and social impact. We have four major purposes: 1. Educate a generation of globally responsible leaders. 2. Foster high-quality research to build knowledge on topics related to the successful formation and implementation of Responsible Leadership practice strategies. 3. Support the non-profit community. 4. Be a global advocate for Responsible Leadership by working on the world stage to better understand the challenges associated with globally responsible leadership and developing new and better ways to train future and current managers.

Last week, we were thrilled to co-host the 37th Business Forecast Luncheon alongside Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO)! This incredible event brought together Kingston’s vibrant business community to gain expert insights into the global, national, and local economic outlook.
Last week, Kingston's local business community came together for the 37th Business Forecast Luncheon hosted by Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) and Centre for Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Social Impact | Smith School of Business (CEISI). Attendees gained valuable insights into the global, national and local economic landscape from leading economists and experts. After introductory remarks from Donna Gillespie, CEO of KEDCO, and Associate Dean Lynnette Purda, Professor Elspeth J. Murray, Director of CEISI, reflected on past economic forecasts. Professor David Detomasi shared insights into the global geopolitical forecast and Smith Commerce student Charles Zhang provided a national outlook. Professor Tracy Jenkin explored the transformative potential of AI in business, and Justine Janssen, Co-Founder of CommonShares, wrapped up by introducing a new system to help Canadian businesses transition their assets through employee ownership. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this year's event an inspiring experience. Special thanks to Professor Emeritus Merv Daub, who co-founded the BFL over 40 years ago, and Professor Ken Wong for being in attendance.
