Steel Fabrication: Our drive for excellence and innovation touches every step in our fabrication process, ensuring project needs are met with thoughtful precision. We have more than 712,000 square feet of space across five locations strategically located in Canada and the US, outfitted with the most advanced and automated fabrication technology in North America, and an annual capacity to produce more than 111,904 tons of fabricated steel. From structural steel to miscellaneous metals and joists, we are your one-stop shop. Steel Installation: At Steelcon, we pride ourselves on being “builders”, meaning that we plan and design with constructability as the top priority. With inhouse steel erection and decking installation teams, and more than 20 installation and deck partners, we focus on creating efficiently sequenced plans that are erector and worker friendly.

Progress continues at the new Halton Regional Police District 1 facility! This 66,000-square-foot, two-story facility is designed to support Halton’s policing services and incorporates state-of-the-art features, including rooftop solar panels to reduce energy consumption. A key aspect of this project is its two-phase construction approach. Phase one involved erecting basement columns, first-floor beams, and decking, with phase two beginning after the first-floor concrete pour. On this 454,464 sq ft warehouse project, Steelcon has implemented a modular erection process to accelerate joist installation. Each full bay of joists is assembled on the ground, including bridging, and then lifted as a single module and positioned onto the post-and-beam framing. A custom engineered and fabricated spreader frame supports each joist during the lift, ensuring stability as the module is lifted into place. By assembling full bays of joists on the ground and lifting them as a single module, we’re achieving new levels of efficiency and precision. Steel erection is underway on this six-storey, 117,385 sq ft health and education facility that will provide an inclusive hub for education and strengthen connections among healthcare providers in the region. Steelcon incorporated SIN beam members as a replacement for the traditional hot-rolled steel composite sections for floor beams. This innovative approach not only resulted in cost savings but allowed the team to advance the schedule by eliminating the need for welding shear studs at more than 80 per cent of the composite deck locations. The unique bridge architecture required beams up to 79 feet in length, with the heaviest piece weighing 20 US tons, requiring careful planning and precision on site.
