At a time when companies are abandoning their DEI practices, the facts remain: women and gender-diverse founders continue to receive significantly less funding than male counterparts, therefore limiting opportunities for growth and innovation in the Canadian market. Investors standing by their values and driving capital equitably will play a crucial part in closing this innovation gap. SVX is now accepting applications for TogetherVC, an introductory program to understanding social equity and inclusion practices in early-stage venture investment. The goal of the program is to equip Ontario-based investment professionals, angel investors, and venture capital investors with educational resources, holistic support, and tools to uncover untapped market opportunities, diversify portfolios, and align strategies for meaningful financial and social impact. TogetherVC is more than just a program; it is a community designed to foster mutual learning, strategic growth, and new opportunities for mission-aligned investors. This experience is designed to meet all participants where they’re at, whether they’re exploring gender and social equity for the first time, or are looking to deepen their expertise. We encourage ALL investors to apply, because driving positive change will require us all to work together. Stay tuned for our more announcements and our Fireside Chat series, where we explore gender lens investing with our partners across Canada! Participants Will Gain: - Deeper insights into diverse founder perspectives - Practical tools for equity-focused investing - A network of like-minded investors committed to driving meaningful financial and social impact 📅Key Dates: Program Start Date: March 10, 2025 Session Timeline (4 sessions over 3 weeks): Wednesday, March 12, 2025 1:00 - 2:30 pm EST Monday, March 17, 2025 1:00 - 2:30 pm EST Thursday, March 20, 2025 1:00 - 2:30 pm EST Thursday, March 27, 2025 5:00 - 7:00 pm EST (In-person Toronto) 📌 Application Deadline: Monday, March 3, 2025 For those interested in integrating gender equity into their investment strategies and strengthening their portfolios, we invite you to apply. 🔗 Learn more and apply: https://lnkd.in/eRcdEH4E TogetherVC is delivered by WinVC Canada, a national collaborative dedicated to supporting women, non-binary entrepreneurs, and gender lens investors. Insightful reflections from our very own Diem Le, who has been on the ground at LEAP 2026 and connecting with the incredible team at MyFounders.Club. Presenting a deep dive into impact investing analysis to the power of public-private partnerships, food security solutions, and AI-driven sustainability, these takeaways highlight the critical shifts shaping the future of inclusive, sustainable finance. We know that real impact demands real analysis. But beyond storytelling, we need data-driven decision-making to ensure sustainable change. By fostering collaboration across sectors, embracing global perspectives, and leveraging AI responsibly, we can drive a future where finance serves people and the planet. Read more below. 👇
From attending LEAP to connecting with the incredible team at MyFounders.Club - a community empowering inclusivity among founders-and experiencing several side events, including a 500 Global event, it's been a whirlwind of inspiration. Here a few key takeaways that I believe can help shape a better future: 1️⃣ Impact Investing Requires Real Analysis Impact Investing goes beyond storytelling. It demands data-driven approaches to assess both economic viability and social outcomes. It's not enough to measure financial returns, we must also understand the contingent factors-such as market shifts or regulatory changes - that can influence an investment's true impact. Without this depth of analysis, we risk falling short of creating meaningful, sustainable change. 2️⃣ The Power of Impact Investing lies with Public-Private Partnerships Impact investing cannot operate in a silo; it must align with broader strategic objectives. While private returns are important, scaling positive change requires collaboration with governments and alignment with regulations. By fostering public-private partnerships, we can create a multiplier effect that amplifies impact. This isn't just about smart spending-it's about leveraging collaboration to maximize impact. 3️⃣ Food Security for Future Generations Food security remains one of the most pressing challenges we face. As global populations grow and geopolitical priorities shift, sustainable agricultural practices and resilient food systems are more critical than ever. Solutions must be multifaceted, addressing everything from efficient resource use to year-round production and scalable local food systems. The stakes are high, but so is the potential for innovation. 4️⃣ Global Perspectives on Impact Investing In a rapidly evolving landscape, identifying key ecosystem players and pattern mapping of regulatory requirements across regions are essential to understanding long-term trends. By proactively identifying companies positioned to thrive amidst changing regulations, demographic shifts, and environmental impacts, investors can stay ahead of the curve and drive greater impact. 5️⃣ Harnessing AI for a Sustainable Future While AI is often criticized for its high energy and water consumption, there's growing research into how it can support sustainable development. From optimizing agriculture resources to predicting climate impacts, and creating smarter, greener solutions, AI has the potential to reshape the future of sustainability-if leveraged responsibly. The key lies in balancing innovation with environmental stewardship. To everyone I met at LEAP and in Saudia Arabia 🇸🇦 over the past few days - thank you for your warmth, wisdom, and willingness to share your visions for the future. It's been incredibly exciting to witness firsthand the exponential growth and the emerging ecosystem shaping a future driven by sustainability, inclusivity, and impact investments, leaving me inspired and energized. ✨
