We were delighted to break ground last week on our new community in Vancouver, Amica Granville & West 47th, in partnership with Amica Senior Lifestyles and Marcon. This momentous occasion marked the beginning of construction on an extraordinary community that will provide essential care and housing for Vancouver’s growing seniors population. Located at West 47th Ave and Granville St in Kerrisdale, this six-storey seniors community care facility will be comprised of 208 homes for seniors, offering a continuum of care, including assisted living, long-term care, and memory care. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us, and for their continued support of this project, which will allow seniors to age in place within their community.

For #FabricationFriday we wanted to share a video of the MTR’s being loaded a few weeks ago. Our team has been on this journey of Industrialized Construction (IC) for a number of years now - we worked on our first sets of multi-trade racks back in 2017. We also wanted to share an older article from our friend Amy Marks that shares some of the reasons why we are so passionate about sharing the benefits of IC with our industry. “MEP subcontractors — especially the ones who have integrated multi-trade and applied manufacturing techniques — have proved out the significant promises and advantages that DfMA and prefabrication offer for owners and the design, construction and manufacturing industries at-large. Manufacturing in a controlled environment away from the site can increase productivity, overcome labor shortages and increase the predictability of the cost and schedule. Clients benefit from certainty, which in many cases is more valuable than savings. Subcontractors should look to embrace prefabrication, as they can benefit from greater predictability, productivity and profitability as a result. MEP subcontractors have shown us the way. This #FabricationFriday, we're giving you an exclusive peek behind the scenes from last week's Future of Work event! Last Friday we welcomed students to explore the exciting opportunities and technological advancements in construction and skilled trades while at the same time our carbon shop was bustling to get orders out the door. This is what makes our Shop XL so unique - having a separate contained area where our team can weld carbon and not risk potential contamination of our stainless steel department. Job well done to our team that had to manage the challenge of concurrently completing final preparations for our event while still completing necessary orders! Special thanks to Take Off Photography for the footage. During the event we gave away so many PMP hats and we've had some photos submitted of young people who insist on wearing them everywhere.
