  • Earlier this year, The Trenchless Company was contracted to install a replacement pipeline in southeast Texas after the original was exposed by Hurricane Harvey. This 1,600 ft+ crossing intersected with a nearby hurricane levee, making Direct Pipe® the ideal method for ensuring the safe movement of resources through the region. Learn more about how The Trenchless Company helped make this essential project a success in our full-length video case study!

  • Our trenchless technologies reduce the footprint of pipeline and utility installations, which helps protect the integrity of nearby water bodies and other sensitive ecosystems. But The Crossing Group's commitment to sustainability goes beyond the equipment we use — it also sits at the core of our project planning and work procedures. As a result, we can provide efficient underground construction services that consistently help preserve the world we all share. • Last year, The Tunneling Company completed one of the longest microtunneling projects of its kind in Canada: the Jacko Lake Microtunnel (Drive #4). To safely install a 36-inch steel product pipe beneath sensitive environmental areas, our expert crews had to overcome a wide range of challenges. They successfully navigated several vertical curves, difficult ground conditions, and even encroaching wildfires in the region — along with many other technical hurdles. At 1,173 m long, the completed tunnel is a symbol of our team's perseverance, expertise, and versatility in the face of even the most unexpected obstacles. Learn more about how we completed this large-scale microtunneling project in our video case study!

  • Did you know that our HDD Rigs can install product lines spanning distances up to 3 km? These powerful rigs are perfect for crossing highways, water bodies, and other large obstacles in a single shot. Despite their heavy-duty design, they provide a low disturbance solution for underground installations, causing minimal impacts on the surrounding environment. With an extensive North American fleet operated by highly experienced crews, we are always ready to make your next long-distance crossing a success!

  • We're excited to announce that The Tunneling Company just completed a complex microtunneling project at the Fraser Surrey Terminal! This twin 147.5 meter crossing originated from a single launch shaft, accommodating a pipeline between the terminal's tank farm and offshore trestle abutment. The parallel tunnels passed beneath multiple railway tracks, and through mixed subsurface conditions featuring sand, silt, clay, and wood debris. Our slurry-supported Microtunnel Boring Machines provided continuous support to the tunnel, which ensured ground stability and protected existing utilities above the tunneling path. Thank you to everyone who made this another safe and successful microtunnel crossing 👏

  • In Central Alberta, The Tunneling Company recently took a modern approach to conventional tunneling! Our crews used a mini backhoe to excavate ground material for a 120-inch pipe installation, then loaded the material on a conveyor belt system for removal. Meanwhile, they used the base of a boring machine to efficiently advance the pipe along the bore path. Great work by everyone who made this installation a success!
