How can nonprofits capture those crucial year-end dollars while also respecting the well-being of their staff? That is the question our Hiver Shannon Cherry, APR MA asks in her debut article "Should Fundraisers Work the Last Week of the Year?" On one hand we know that 47% of nonprofits online revenue comes in the last week of December (with 20% coming in on December 31st!) On the other hand many nonprofiteers are wanting to celebrate their holiday season (3 major religions celebrate at the end/beginning of the year). 6 Actionable Principles to Spark Nonprofit Innovation: 1. Be like a detective, be a fearless problem solver. Uncover hidden needs. 2. Ask courageous questions, ideate, start small, but the dream big. 3. Empower your staff to speak up and collaborate (include those on the front lines). 4. Leave room for experiment. experiments, play, risk taking, and even, that scary word, failure. 5. Embrace continuous learning by asking ourselves hard questions, ask ourselves the hard questions so our board and donors don't have to. 6. We need to practice the art of Persuasion.
