Could a "Sector Fund" be what Canadian nonprofits need? John Hallward, the founder of GIV3 thinks so. His plan? A mandatory "Social Sector Grant" to bridge the funding gap. A small percentage from all grantmaking foundations in Canada with over $500k in assets, creating a $35-40,000,000 annual fund. Some experts see this as a needed shake-up, while others worry it’s not the right solution. With donations across the country declining, is this the bold step we need? About us
Our mission is to create a meaningful, sustainable, and positive impact on the world around us. We want to make our mark and leave our footprint in an area that matters to the team at POD. We will combine our resources of time, money, networking, and expertise to launch and execute a single project each year. These projects will be centered around a category that was chosen by our team and executed by our board of directors. We will plan these projects with precision, execute with passion, and deliver with impact. We want to leverage our marketing expertise, staff workforce (time), and connections within the industry to bolster the efforts of other non-profit organizations that we believe in. What makes us unique? We're the only non-profit organization that exists to help market other non-profits.

Are nonprofits really becoming less trustworthy? Despite rising misinformation, nonprofits still rank highly for trust, according to the Give.org 2023 Donor Trust Report. However, 1/3 of potential donors struggle to choose between organizations. To bridge this gap, nonprofits can: ⭐ Prioritize transparency in financials and impact reporting. ⭐ Ensure accurate and honest messaging in campaigns. ⭐ Protect donor data and privacy to build confidence. The key is reconnecting with your audiences and showing real impact. #thepodvocateproject #podvocateprojectyyc #charitablegiving #marketingtips #yycgiving

How can nonprofits change their narrative to improve fundraising efforts? Organizations looking to inspire change should shift their focus away from fear-based tactics and prioritize positive storytelling. By using personal stories, uplifting narratives, and—when appropriate, humour, you can engage potential donors in a more authentic, motivating way. When you make your audience feel like part of the solution, they’re more likely to get involved and take action. #thepodvocateproject #podvocateprojectyyc #charitablegiving #marketingtips #yycgiving

How do you find loyal donors? By connecting deeply and nurturing their generosity into loyalty. Here's how: ⭐ Seek out people who genuinely care about the problem your organization is solving. ⭐ Highlight the impact your donors make through real, emotionally resonant stories. ⭐ Go beyond asking for donations—invite donors to volunteer, attend insider events, or receive personal updates. Remember, loyalty doesn't come by accident. Build meaningful connections with your donors, showing your gratitude and making them feel like valued partners in your mission. #thepodvocateproject #podvocateprojectyyc #charitablegiving #marketingtips #yycgiving

The PODvocate Project exists because the POD Marketing Inc. team wanted to make a real difference in our community. We identified a gap in the nonprofit sector related to the "overhead myth," which limits nonprofits' ability to invest in essential business functions like marketing. Investing in your team, fundraising, and innovative marketing campaigns requires resources, time, and money. As professional marketers by day, we realized the best way to give back was by using our skills to support and amplify the efforts of other nonprofits, helping them thrive and make an even greater impact. The PODvocate Project is an organization built to lend marketing and other business-related expertise to existing nonprofits and charities. How do we accomplish that? Every other year, we survey our staff about the causes they care most about. Then, we review the results and select various organizations that align with those causes. We send out applications to each organization and select one we believe we can make the greatest impact with. Next, we rally a team of experts to provide over 1,000 hours of work, marketing expertise, creativity—and fundraising. This ends with a summary of our key learnings and results to provide our chosen organization with, so they can continue to execute a marketing strategy well beyond the 2-year mark of our time together. Follow along to be a part of our mission. #thepodvocateproject #podvocateprojectyyc #charitablegiving #marketingtips #yycgivin
