Heading to the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup Cricket Match in Nassau County this weekend? Want to know what the weather will be like? We got you covered! 👊 Check out our detailed weather forecast from our very own Chief Meteorologist, Chris Scott, on what to expect and what to look out for as you prepare for the game! After a fair day on Saturday, a weak cold front will approach southeast NY and Long Island Sunday morning bringing increasing cloud cover and the chance of scattered showers during a portion of the day Sunday. This front looks relatively moisture-starved, meaning the chance of heavy downpours or any severe weather is quite low. At this point, the chance of showers is approximately 40% during the match for the late morning and early afternoon hours. Sunday will be a breezy day. Wind will be initially from the southwest during the early to mid-morning hours at 10-15 mph, turning towards the west and west-northwest during the early to mid-afternoon at 10-15 mph. Some gusts may exceed 20 mph. Temperatures will be comfortable, rising to the mid to upper 70s by early to mid-afternoon. Any scattered showers that do occur would temporarily cool temperatures by a few degrees, but only briefly. The day will generally be partly cloudy, with more cloud cover during the mid-late morning hours and a higher likelihood of clear skies by mid to late afternoon. Humidity levels will be comfortable, with dew point values dropping in the afternoon after the weak frontal passage and wind shift to the west and west-north west. What to watch for: The weak cold front that we are monitoring for Sunday hasn't formed yet, and will develop in response to jet stream energy that is currently across western Canada. This system has a long way to go, and therefore subtle changes are possible which may affect both the likelihood and timing of precipitation. At this point, steady or heavy precipitation appears unlikely, but we will monitor for any changes that might suggest this is a possibility. Some computer model guidance shows no precipitation at all for Nassau County on Sunday, so a completely dry day is a possibility. However, at this point, a 40% chance of showers is the most prudent forecast. Check out the local forecast for Nassau County to stay updated on these weather conditions! ⬇ https://lnkd.in/eYwMH2nz
