  • Starting a new life in Canada as an international student is exciting, but it’s not always easy. Over time, I’ve noticed a few common mistakes that can make this journey tougher than it needs to be. Here are three things I see students often get wrong, and some tips on how to avoid them: - Getting Stuck in the Books: Academics are important, no doubt about it. But if you’re spending all your time buried in books, you might miss out on some amazing experiences. Canada has so much to offer! ↳ Get involved in clubs, volunteer, and meet new people. ↳ These experiences can teach you things you won’t find in a textbook and might even help you land that dream job. - Thinking Networking Isn’t a Big Deal: It’s easy to think that good grades will take you far, but in Canada, who you know can be just as important as what you know. ↳ Start connecting with people early, attend events, reach out on LinkedIn, and don’t be afraid to ask for advice. ↳ Networking can open doors you didn’t even know existed. - Waiting Until the Last Minute to Plan Your Career: Many students wait until after graduation to start thinking about their careers, but in Canada, you need to start planning early. ↳ Take advantage of your school’s career services, look for internships, and get familiar with the job market in your field. ↳ The earlier you start, the easier it will be to transition from student to professional. “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”  - Peter Drucker Remember, your time in Canada isn’t just about earning a degree, it’s about building a successful life. P.S. If you decide to take the first step and move to Canada, I'm here for you: ↳ Fill out the assessment form in the comments and we will reach out to you.

  • There is no overnight success, even in Canada. I never imagined how hard it could be to: - leave everything behind, - start over in Canada from nothing, - build our dream life with no support, - lose loved ones when I was oceans away, We worked hard and sacrificed a lot in the past 20 years, which nobody (even our family and friends) knows about. When you see people’s achievements, know that it’s the result of their hard and smart work. If you want to build a dream life, you must work hard for it and sacrifice many things. But it’s worth it. Remember, there is no overnight success, even in Canada. P.S. We provide visa and immigration services. ↳ If you are planning to move to Canada, fill out the assessment form in the comments and we will reach out to you.

  • Newcomers and International Students: Use this free tool to stand out from others. If you're looking for a job, having a standout LinkedIn profile is a total game-changer. Here’s why you should spend some time making up your profile: - Get Noticed: Recruiters and employers are constantly searching for talent on LinkedIn. ↳ A good profile helps you show up in their searches and gets you noticed. - Make a Great First Impression: Your LinkedIn profile is often the first thing potential employers see. ↳ Make sure it’s a good one with a professional photo, a catchy headline, and a summary that shows off what you're all about. - Use the Right Keywords: Just like with Google, LinkedIn uses keywords to help people find you. ↳ Use relevant keywords throughout your profile to increase your chances of being seen. - Show Off Your Skills: List your skills, get endorsements, and gather recommendations. ↳ These add credibility and show that others value your expertise. - Tell Your Story: Don’t just list your job duties, tell the story of your career. ↳ Highlight your achievements, projects, and the impact you’ve made in your roles. - Build Your Network: An optimized profile invites connections from industry pros, recruiters, and potential employers. ↳ The more connections you have, the wider your reach. - Stay Active: Post updates, share relevant content, and join in on discussions. ↳ Active profiles get noticed more often. Put in the effort to make your profile optimized, and you'll be one step closer to landing that dream job!

  • The simple method to answer your interview questions like a star. The secret to a successful interview and receiving an offer is preparation. One preparation step is to have specific examples from your experience for answering the interview questions. But you might ask: how to answer the interview questions? Perhaps you have heard that the best approach to capturing people’s hearts and minds is through storytelling. ↳ So, why not use storytelling to win the hiring manager over? To structure your response to each question into a mini-story, you need to use the STAR method. Here’s how it works: - Situation: ↳ Start by describing the specific circumstances, including the company, project, team dynamics, and any relevant background information. - Task: ↳ Explain your role, responsibilities, and any constraints you had to deal with. - Action: ↳ Highlight your specific actions, skills, and decision-making process. Focus on your contributions and what sets you apart from others. Use I (instead of we) and active verbs to demonstrate your initiative and leadership. - Result: ↳ Share the outcomes of your actions and quantify your achievements. Did you meet or exceed your goals? What were the tangible benefits to the business? Bonus: Don’t forget to talk about what you learned from the experience, how it has contributed to your growth, and how you are going to apply it in your new job. And this is how you use the STAR method to become the star in the interview.

  • Why I don’t try to blend in (and why you shouldn’t either): We live in a world where fitting in is encouraged. Many immigrants think they should change who they are, so they can blend in better in Canadian society. But my husband and I have chosen a different approach. ↳ We don't try to blend in, and I believe you shouldn't either. We use our unique identities to set ourselves apart. ↳ This has opened doors to many new opportunities. By being myself, I naturally attract people who resonate with my authenticity. ↳ These people appreciate me for who I am, not for who I pretend to be. Here are a few steps to help you create an authentic personal brand: P.S. Let me know in the comments, how you define your personal brand.
