Employers, especially those with head offices in other provinces, please take note: 💰 Pay Disclosure: All employers must include the expected pay or salary range in public job advertisements. ❌ No Pay History Questions: Employers are prohibited from asking applicants about their past salaries. 🔒 Employee Protection: Employers cannot penalize employees for asking about, discussing, or sharing their pay with others. 📊 Transparency Reports: Large employers must submit annual pay transparency reports starting November 1, following a phased approach. Bottom line: 🚨 Compliance is Key: Any job posted in B.C., regardless of the employer's origin, must include pay details. Failing to do so violates the law. ✨ How is it already November 2nd? Anyone else feel like October flew by? ✨ If I had to sum up last month in one word, it would be ‘connecting’. Below is a quick recap of what kept me busy: 🎤 I had the honor of presenting at two events with Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC - Nonprofit Health & Safety Association • First, the Make It Safe conference, where I talked about future trends in manufacturing. • Second, an online session titled “How to Do Your Own Recruiting—Practical Strategies for Small Business.” 🌐 Attended ASCM - Western Canada Chapter annual conference and reconnecting with familiar faces and meeting new ones in the industry! 💪 Had some authentic conversations with a few fellow female founders in recruitment. Let’s just say “Lift Me Up” by Rihanna has been on repeat this month. 🌟 What an incredible Two Days at the Make It Safe 2024 Conference by Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC - Nonprofit Health & Safety Association I had the privilege of wearing several hats— a co-judge for the youth challenge, presenter, and panelist discussing future trends in talent acquisition in manufacturing in Canada. It was an honor to be part of such a dynamic event! Here are some key takeaways and highlights: 🎤 Outstanding Speakers: From industry experts to trailblazers in safety innovation, the lineup was nothing short of impressive. 👩💼 Panel Discussion on Investment and People Practices on the Future of Work: It was fantastic to exchange insights with fellow panelists Cameron Stockdale and Rosanne Horner, MBA. as well as discuss challenges in the labour market with participants in our breakout sessions. 🌱 Youth Challenge: Judging the youth challenge was a highlight! The students' creativity, energy, and passion were truly inspiring. The future of manufacturing is in great hands with these young leaders—watch out, world! 🌍 🔗 New Connections and Reconnections: I had the chance to reconnect with some old friends and build new connections with professionals who are as passionate about the future of health, safety. 🤝Networking at this conference was next-level, and I’m excited to continue the conversations started here.
