  • More than a century later, the fascination with the Titanic hasn’t faded—if anything, it has become even stronger; a cautionary legend that speaks to our times of great technological advances and even greater perils. 🚢 “This experience is beyond anything I’ve seen in the theatre...I felt these big surges of powerful emotion whether it was the elation of the love story or the dread, the fear. A beautiful experience.” —James Cameron Continue your fascination with Titanic by seeing the film on the big screen again, with an orchestra and choir performing the score live. 🎼 Presented by TO Live and Attila Glatz Concert Productions. https://ow.ly/EVih50Uq2SV [Image description: A film still from the Titanic movie featuring the Titanic docked. • Four Toronto performing arts powerhouses are coming together to bring the internationally renowned big, Black, queer-ass American Broadway show to Canada—and TO Live is excited to announce it is one of them! We're joining The Musical Stage Company, Soulpepper Theatre, and Crow’s Theatre to present the highly anticipated Canadian premiere of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical A Strange Loop. Created by Michael R. Jackson, A Strange Loop is a sharp, hilarious, and profoundly moving exploration of identity, self-doubt, and creativity. Following the journey of Usher, a young Black queer writer working as an usher at The Lion King, this provocative, groundbreaking musical brilliantly blends humour and heart as Usher battles the swirling voices in his head—personified as “Thoughts”—while writing a musical about his own life. https://ow.ly/g4Bs50Uh7n1 [Video description: A video introducing the cast of "A Strange Loop." The video consists of photos of the cast along with their names and who they play in the show. The photos appear in the following order: Malachi McCaskill , Sierra Holder, Nathanael Judah, Marcus Nance, Davis Okey, David Andrew Reid, Amaka Umeh, and David Lopez.]

  • Cécile McLorin Salvant talked to us about singing about strong women, performing in different languages, being a generational talent, and all the research that goes into her process. Check out her performance this Saturday and read more of our conversation with the Grammy-winning artist here: https://ow.ly/Asjr50Uga00. [Image description: A quote graphic with a black-and-white photo of Cécile McLorin Salvant on the left and a quote on the right. The quote reads "I listen to music as much as I can. I enjoy sharing a discovery with an audience of a song that people might not know. Part of it is getting to be a radio DJ that’s like, “here’s a deep cut.” I also spend all this time looking for music and sifting through, doing so much legwork, that sharing it is like a gift; here’s what I’ve come up with after all this excavation."
