AGEISM is rife in Healthcare. According to a comprehensive review published in the journal PLOS ONE, ageism led to "significantly worse health outcomes in 95.5% of the studies". Age dictated who received medical procedures and/or treatments; and, older adults were more likely NOT to receive life-sustaining treatments. In fact, older adults have frequently been omitted from clinical trials. We all have a role to play. Thanks to the Ted Rogers School of Management Diversity Institute, I had the privilege to attend the Ontario Chamber of Commerce's flagship event in Toronto, the Ontario Economic Summit . Although this may not be my typical venue for learning, I came away with extraordinary new insights and a deep appreciation for the 98% of Canadian businesses that are Small/Medium enterprises, some 55% of which have less than 4 employees.
