Today, Canadian Western Agribition’s 53rd show officially kicked off. This six-day event is a cornerstone for Regina and our province, drawing nearly 120,000 attendees, 1,200 international guests from 63 countries, and inspiring 10,000 school children every year. Exciting news from Canadian Western Agribition! 📈 In 2023, CWA made a significant mark by generating a record $116.5 million for the Saskatchewan economy, a 20.7% increase from 2022. With 142,800 attendees, tourist spending soared to $83.2 million. This event supports 1081 jobs in the province and significantly boosts the local economic activity. This morning, we announced that Regina will host the CAN-AM POLICE FIRE GAMES in August 2028. This multi-sport, Olympic-style event will bring together thousands of athletes and their families from across North America, showcasing the dedication and skill of our first responders. Today, Destination Canada announced the launch of four new tourism corridors for 2024, building on the momentum of last year’s successful pilot Tourism Corridor Strategy Program. We are excited to have Field to Fork, the first-ever tourism corridor with a culinary focus, launch in Saskatchewan. Field to Fork will connect visitors to the heart of Canadian agriculture through farm-to-table culinary experiences, educational workshops, Indigenous agritourism, and vibrant festivals. Whether you’re exploring our fields as a traveller or visiting for business, this unique journey offers an eye-opening look at where our food comes from, the processes behind it, and their impact on society and the environment. Building upon the success of the pilot Tourism Corridor Strategy Program last year, Destination Canada has expanded the program to launch four new tourism corridors for 2024: • Cycle Ontario and Quebec • Field to Fork: Saskatchewan Manitoba Agritourism • Northern Sky Corridor (Alberta, Northwest Territories) • Juan de Fuca Corridor (British Columbia, Washington State, USA) This collaborative project will benefit not only the communities and destinations involved, but will also bolster Canada’s competitiveness by giving visitors more reasons to travel to new regions across Canada.
