#Churchill, Manitoba is the polar bear capital of the world and Polar Bears International founded this day to coincide with the time period when mothers and cubs are in their dens. Here are some other fun facts about polar bears and their young: • While some female polar bears den on the ice, the predominant choice is onshore denning - where they dig into snow drifts to craft their shelter. • Polar bear cubs are some of the smallest mammals at birth relative to their mother. • Mother polar bears typically give birth to two cubs per litter. Cubs under a year old stay close to their mother, remaining still and watchful during her hunts. • After several months in the den, the new family emerges in mid-March. Visitors can see polar bear cubs emerging from their dens in March with Wat’chee Expeditions. Located near Wapusk National Park, this tour—operating under a rare Parks Canada permit—lets visitors witness mother bears and their cubs. From Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge, Churchill Wild also offers a rare chance to see mother bears and their cubs emerge from their dens in the remote Kaskatamagan Wildlife Management Area. Travel Manitoba’s last spring and summer leisure campaign knocked it out of the park! 🚀 For every dollar invested, we generated four dollars in hotel and airline bookings—resulting in $4.7 million in gross travel revenue across the province, 20,900+ hotel room nights and 5,800 airline tickets booked. 🤯 Last year, we tapped into the social media trend of POV (Point of View) to bring Manitoba’s travel experiences to life. From breathtaking northern adventures to vibrant Winnipeg itineraries, our videos, social media and print ads immersed travellers in what makes this province a must-visit destination. 💡 Campaign Highlights: ✅ 56 million digital impressions ✅ 8.8 million video views ✅ 121,000 clicks ✅ 760,000 website visits → nearly 86,000 business leads for tourism partners! Strategic partnerships played a huge role in amplifying our message. We teamed up with Expedia, Air Canada and Lonely Planet, worked with Ace Burpee and the Winnipeg Goldeyes and even launched the Kid’s Choice Pass to help families discover Manitoba’s incredible museums. We also introduced GuideGeek, an AI travel assistant helping visitors plan their trips in real time. 📍 Want to learn more? Louis Riel Day is a day to honour the culture, resilience and contributions of Manitoba’s first premier, Louis Riel, the visionary Métis leader, and his ideal of a province that would bring together people of all cultures. This vision and celebration of our province’s Métis heritage is something La Brasserie Nonsuch Brewing Co. embraces, especially through its unique Beer Bannock experience. Finalists for the 2024 Indigenous Tourism Association of Canada (ITAC) of Canada's Indigenous Culinary Award, the brewery has a unique connection to Louis Riel and celebrates the history through a special hands-on experience. Visitors are invited to discover Manitoba’s cultural roots through storytelling, beer sampling and bannock-making in the art deco tap room located in the heart of the Exchange District. Created by co-founder Matthew Sabourin, who shares his family ties to Louis Riel, the experience brings history to life in an immersive and delicious way. “We’ve always believed that tourism is a critical part of our business and our community. We already had the tap room, great food and a strong historical story. We needed something to bring it all together and bannock was it. We simply switched out the water component with beer. It’s relatively easy to make and gives us the opportunity to talk about history, the introduction of colonial foods and all the good and bad that comes with it—we tackle it head on," Sabourin said. This Louis Riel Day, let’s celebrate the traditions that shape Manitoba and the tourism experiences that connect us to our shared history. https://lnkd.in/g8c5UgAg #LouisRielDay #MétisHeritage #IndigenousTourism #ManitobaHistory #BeerBannock #ExploreMB
