  • ✨ Transforming Industries with Digital Equity (2/2) by Jesal Thakkar, PMP®. Digital transformation is a powerful tool for change, and I’ve seen its impact firsthand in the oil and gas sector. As part of a team working on cutting-edge solutions, I had the privilege of implementing digital twin technology to optimize the efficiency and safety of operations in a natural gas liquefied plant. 💡 Empowering Through Digital Twin Technology: The digital twin technology we implemented helped us simulate real-world processes before the plant went live. This not only reduced risks during the pre-commissioning and commissioning phases but also empowered teams to make data-driven decisions in real-time. It was amazing to see how this innovative approach minimized downtime and enhanced safety, proving the true power of digital equity. 🌍 I’m incredibly proud to have been part of this initiative, as it directly contributes to MG 25’s theme of Digital Equity – Closing the Chasm. It continues to inspire me to explore innovative solutions that can break down barriers and create opportunities for greater operational excellence. Let’s keep closing the digital divide, one innovation at a time. #MG25 #MBAGames2025 #DigitalEquity #ClosingTheChasm #DigitalEquityInAction #RoadToMG25

  • 🌍 Bridging Gaps Through Sustainable Innovation (1/2) by Rochell Dsouza. Digital equity is about more than just technology—it’s about making innovation accessible to everyone. As a marketer, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on projects that not only raise awareness but also drive adoption of solutions that promote sustainability and inclusion. 📡 Promoting IoT for Sustainable Buildings: During my time at Pacific Control in Dubai, I worked closely with engineers and clients to market IoT solutions designed for sustainable buildings. One of the most rewarding moments was seeing the tangible impact we had on a project that saved $1million in energy costs for just one building. That success proved how effective marketing can amplify innovative solutions and drive meaningful change. It was a game-changer for both our clients and the environment. 🍽 Building Digital Pathways for Sustainable Food: In Singapore, I supported a startup focused on plant-based mock meat and fish, helping them build their online presence with limited resources. Through strategic campaigns, we generated 100+ orders in the first month—proving that even on a tight budget, digital marketing can expand access to sustainable food options and help a business thrive. 💻 These experiences have shown me the critical role that marketing plays in bridging the gap between complex innovations and their audiences. By closing communication gaps, I’ve helped scale impactful solutions, promote accessibility, and bridge digital divides. This aligns perfectly with MG 25’s theme of Digital Equity – Closing the Chasm. #MG25 #MBAGames2025 #DigitalEquity #ClosingTheChasm #DigitalEquityInAction #RoadToMG25

  • To conclude our series on digital equity, we turn to the perspective of Adina Gray, a University Instructor at the Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics at Thompson Rivers University, who sees both risks and opportunities in leveraging AI to address this challenge. (3/3) 💡 Adina Gray: "Digital inequality is a major obstacle to creating a more inclusive society. As someone passionate about technology’s potential for social good, I see AI playing both a risky and a promising role. If only privileged groups have access to AI-powered tools, the digital divide will grow. But if we ensure broader access, AI can be a game-changer—supporting personalized learning, connecting remote communities to healthcare, and even breaking down language barriers. In Canada, digital inequality touches every aspect of life—from economic development to education and essential services. AI-powered tools could be transformative by improving how healthcare is delivered, making learning more accessible, and connecting rural and remote communities. But to make this a reality, we need to close the internet access gap and invest in teaching digital skills, so that all Canadians can thrive in a tech-driven world." Her vision for AI as a tool for inclusivity reminds us of the transformative potential of technology—if access is democratized. What role do you think AI can play in bridging the digital divide? Join the conversation below. #MBAGames2025 #MG25 #DigitalEquityVoices

  • Continuing our exploration of digital inequity in Canada, Dr. Trent Tucker, Associate Teaching Professor at the Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics at Thompson Rivers University, shared a thought-provoking example that underscores the daily realities of those impacted by this issue. (2/3) 💡 Dr. Trent Tucker: "Say – what are you doing on your phone right now? Whatcha up to? Checking your email to see your dream job employer has read your application? eTransferring some money to a friend for last night's dinner out? Looking to your social media feeds for the latest information about the driving conditions on the Coquihalla? If you didn't have that expensive device in your pocket, if you didn't have a monthly data plan, what would you do? That's what digital inequity is. In a world where increasingly one cannot function and contribute to society without the full computational power of the internet immediately at their fingertips - that is digital inequity. Here is a simple real life example. My 88-year old mother always gets her VISA bill delivered via Canada Post. With the postal strike, she didn't get the bill, so now she has to pay interest on a late payment. Most of us would think nothing about it – open the banking app, check the credit card balance, transfer funds, done. How can people go about their daily lives if they don't have the devices, the network access, or the knowledge to use technology to function? AI won't fix it. Virtual reality goggles won't fix it. Cryptocurrency won't fix it. What are you doing on your phone now? Designing a better future with access for all? Good…" Dr. Tucker’s example reminds us how digital access has become essential for functioning in modern society. How can we collectively design a future with digital access for all? Let us know your thoughts. #MBAGames2025 #MG25 #DigitalEquityVoices

  • Digital inequality is one of Canada’s pressing challenges, affecting access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. We began our conversation on this critical issue with John McDonald, MBA, ICD.D, a Sessional Instructor at the Bob Gaglardi School of Business and Economics at Thompson Rivers University. (1/3) 💡 John McDonald: "When I think about digital inequality in Canada, I immediately think of the growing divide between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots'—a divide that separates those with access to the digital world from those without. This gap is not just about technology; it’s about access to vital information and communication tools that are increasingly essential to daily life. In Canada, this digital divide disproportionately impacts rural and Indigenous communities, low-income individuals, older Canadians, and those with limited language skills. Known as the 'digital divide,' this inequality has far-reaching consequences, hindering access to economic opportunities, education, healthcare, and social inclusion. Unless meaningful and inclusive solutions are implemented to bridge this gap, the ability of many Canadians to fully participate in the global economy will be severely compromised." His perspective highlights the urgent need for inclusive solutions to address these disparities. What are your thoughts on digital inequality?
