The TAC Alberta (Calgary) Chapter had a fantastic evening on February 12th, 2025, at the Calgary Petroleum Club! A big thank you to our guest speaker, Bertus Vos, Principal Engineer at Bluefox Engineering, who delivered an insightful case study on the Fish Creek Sanitary Trunk Microtunnels. Have you checked out the Tunnel Dashboard yet this year? The purpose of the dashboard is to: - Provide knowledge about the size of the Canadian tunnelling industry; - Support owners in advertising upcoming project work; and - Assist consultants, construction companies and other interested parties by providing vital information on upcoming projects early in the planning and procurement process. The entries included in the database involve microtunnel and tunnel excavations, and can include any number of other elements (i.e., large shored excavation, shafts, portals, etc.). Projects are grouped into two main categories: - Active: currently in the planning, design, procurement or construction phase. - Completed: construction has been completed and the tunnel is in operation. The TAC Ontario Chapter will be hosting its first event of the year on Thursday, February 20th! Presentation Topic: Overview of Available Products for the Support of Underground Construction with an Emphasis on Temporary SOE Abstract: Many types of products are available to support underground excavations and each product serves a different purpose and/or situation. This presentation will cover the more common products available on the market today and go through their individual uses. This presentation will cover some of the more specific design aspects as well.
