This exposure can cause significant financial losses, as well as damage your brand and erode the trust of your customers.   Risk #2: Your company’s cyber risk extends beyond your own network. Technology supply chains are vulnerable to cyber attacks on core technology systems used by many organizations. With the increasing interconnectedness among the majority of businesses, a security vulnerability in one organization can put many other organizations at risk.   WHAT IS THE GOAL?   Goal #1: Reduce the risk of a cyber incident.   Goal #2: Improve the outcomes if an incident does occur.   HOW DO YOU BUILD CYBER RESILIENCE?   The article recommends the following best practices:   Best Practice #1: Assessment - Assess your organizations security measures, with an emphasis on the systems you rely on to support your core business functions.   Best Practice #2: Awareness Training - Train your employees to recognize and respond to potential cyber incidents.   Best Practice #3: Technology Protections - Implement robust technical defenses.   Best Practice #4: Business Continuity - Conduct proactive incident response planning focusing on business continuity in case your key information systems are unavailable.   Best Practice #5: Third-Party Risk Management - Thoroughly assess the security maturity of the organizations in your supply chain vendors and partners.   Best Practice #6: Insurance - Transfer the residual risk through insurance.   One element we would add to this great list is: Policies - Create and implement a full suite of security policies (including Incident Response Plan, Acceptable Use Policy, IT Asset Management Policy, Remote Access/WFH, etc.) To read the full article, see the link in the comments below.
