Over the past weeks, #COP16Colombia in Cali saw the largest, whole-of-society mobilization for biodiversity. With global attention on biodiversity action, countries reached historic agreements. The progress made at COP16 also highlighted the power of multilateralism, making important strides toward the 2030 targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (#KMGBF). With 2030 fast approaching, our commitment to action is more critical than ever. Let’s build on this momentum and continue to #PeaceWithNature. 🌏 Read more on: https://lnkd.in/dDfFW9eU 📹: https://lnkd.in/ewtFiTEq

The official account for the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
About us
The Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) was signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992 and entered into force on 29 December 1993. It is the first global agreement to cover all aspects of biological diversity: the conservation of biological diversity, the sustainable use of its components and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of genetic resources. The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD), based in Montreal, Canada, was established to support the goals of the Convention. Its primary functions are to organize meetings, prepare reports, assist member governments in the implementation of the various programmes of work, coordinate with other international organizations and collect and disseminate information.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), traditional knowledge bridges between biodiversity, cultural heritage, and the sustainable use of resources. Passed down through generations, this knowledge reflects the deep connection between local communities and their natural environment. From the medicinal value to biocultural diversity, traditional practices sustain both people and nature. 🌿 🌼 via UNESCO, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Network (BES-Net), UNEP-WCMC, Fondeko, Univerzitet u Sarajevu / Sveučilište u Sarajevu / Универзитет у Сарајеву, Prirodno matematički fakultet, Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, International Climate Initiative
