  • We 💗 this quote! Did you know it has been featured in our Friendology friendship skills curriculum since it’s very first iteration nearly 16 years ago? Those incredible students are now in their mid-twenties living their best lives! 💫👏 In Friendology, we teach children to be true to who they are – to embrace their “true colours”. Across all the year groups, we have a session called Inner-Ninja that is focused on self-compassion – the act of friendship towards oneself. We remind students that, in order to be an amazing friend to others, they need to be an amazing friend to themselves first. That’s the most important friendship in their lives! We also have a session for our little learners, from Early Years to Year 2, called True Colours that focuses on emotional literacy and self-regulation. Students learn to name their emotions + associate colours with them, along with strategies for calming those big, fiery feelings. This leads them beautifully into our favourite tool, The Friend-o-Meter, and how to apply those important skills in their friendships. Thank you to all of our URSTRONG Schools who are shining the light on friendship skills every single day! 🤗 #friendology #friendshipskills #urstrong #urstrongschools #positivefriendships

We have a few events coming up at URSTRONG that I thought I'd mention here in case anyone is interested: Monday 16 September: Webinar for Educators at URSTRONG Schools! This session will explore the latest-greatest resources, what's on the horizon for 2025, plus some of the truly amazing, creative ways our brilliant schools have been bringing Friendology to life! Tuesday 17 September: Friend-o-Leader Training for URSTRONG Schools! This session is for our schools who've implemented our peer mentorship model. It's a Q&A with yours truly (haha!) and honestly one of my favourite sessions to run. I love meeting the kids & they ask the BEST questions! Tuesday 17 September: Webinar for Educators interested in learning more about what it means to be a URSTRONG School! In this session, Tyson will give a behind-the-scenes look at our Friendology curriculum, Facilitator's Guide, Scope & Sequence, Educator Training, and hundreds of resources for both educators + parents. This is open to anyone! You can register online here: https://lnkd.in/gyJWm76 And please note that if you can't attend live, a recording will be sent to all registrants (minus the Friend-o-Leader session - we don't share the recording of that one to protect the privacy of my little friends!) Have a great weekend, everyone! :)

  • Relationships are the heart of wellbeing! And, we’re so incredibly proud of our URSTRONG Schools for shining the light on what matters most, creating cultures of kindness and belonging for children. Today we’re celebrating Our Lady Star of the Sea @olsotscps in WA for creating the most magical, fun SPIRIT OF FRIENDSHIP DAY! We love seeing the kids with their Friendship Ninja bands (template is on our site!) and we think those teachers win for the BEST Friend-o-Meter t-shirts ever! Tyson (and Oscar) loved meeting them and sharing key friendship tips – like how to put out Friendship Fires and keep friendships in the Green-Zone. As they shared on their Instagram page: “Our school community enjoyed a day of celebrations last Thursday, during our URSTRONG Spirit of Friendship Day! Students wore bright colours and engaged in a range of activities, reinforcing learning from the URSTRONG Friendology 101 curriculum and celebrating the wonderful work students have done to develop and maintain healthy friendships. A big thank you to our parent helpers, student helpers from Wongutha CAPS and to Mrs Erin Tyrrell, our Leader of Wellbeing, for organising a fantastic day!” We’re so grateful for our partnership with Catholic Education WA as they integrate our friendship skills curriculum in their state-wide wellbeing strategy. Please give them a cheer for us! #friendology #urstrong #urstrongschools #cewa #friendshipskills Dana Kerford Deb Perich Tyson Greenwood Michael Kerford

With GRATITUDE as our theme this month at URSTRONG, it’s especially meaningful when we receive notes like this! 🥰💗💫 Thank you to Kate Brown, Head of Junior School, from Pymble Ladies' College – one of Australia’s leading girls’ schools - for sharing these beautiful words with us. We’ve loved working with Pymble over the years and their focus on kindness & friendship radiates throughout their campus. Ms Brown even has a giant pink letterbox where she encourages students to write to her about the kind acts they witness in their friends. It’s been incredible to see the girls, year-after-year, become even more fluent in our ‘language of friendship’. During my last visit to their school a few months ago, Ms Brown was excited to tell me about the positive impact our FRIENDOLOGY friendship skills curriculum continues to have. My favourite anecdote was that parents have actually requested that new families get “training” in our language & strategies so that they’re up-to-speed on our whole-school friendship strategy! 👌 And, congratulations to Kate Giles, Head of Wellbeing, who recently shared the amazing work they’re doing at the International Coalition of Girls' Schools in Baltimore, USA. 👏 👏👏We love seeing our URSTRONG Schools on a global stage, sharing how they’re changing the face of Education with relationships at the heart of everything they do! 💗✨

  • As we celebrate DIVERSITY this month, we remind kids of this quote: “You are unique just like everyone else!” 💗 We want to help kids recognize that they’re not the same as their friends & they’re not supposed to be the same. When they embrace (and celebrate) differences, children feel a sense of ease and belonging. By accepting differences, the pressure to “fit in” fades away and conflicts are resolved more effectively. Putting out Friendship Fires are not about winning or being right – instead, they’re about being heard and understood. We love the ways our URSTRONG Schools are honouring kids JUST THE WAY THEY ARE! 😍🥳🤩 #friendology #urstrong #friendshipskills #urstrongschools #sel #wellbeing #PosEd #PERMA

  • New, Interactive, and Oh-So Fancy! Our Bullying Prevention Framework and Mean-on-Purpose Trackers got a make-over…or a glow-up, as the kids like to say! 🤩💫😍 Our Bullying Prevention Framework was developed to work in partnership with URSTRONG Schools and communities to provide a clear plan of action to help prevent “bullying” behaviour in children. In our Friendology curriculum, students learn how to differentiate conflict between, what we call, Friendship Fires and Mean-on-Purpose behaviour. 🔥🙅♀️ Our Bullying Prevention plan centres on a school-wide positive relationship strategy, designed to shift schools towards a culture of kindness and respect. 💗 The key factors include: ✨A consistent, whole-school approach so that teachers and parents are using the same language to support students ✨A skills-based strategy that empowers students to self-govern and make healthy choices in their relationships ✨Kid-friendly language and pedagogy that promotes learning, retention, and application of knowledge and skills ✨Proactive system that teaches interpersonal skills and conflict-resolution starting at a young age Our customizable plan helps our URSTRONG Schools demonstrate the meaningful, explicit policies and practises they’re embedding to prevent bullying and create a culture of kindness. This document also includes: ⚡️A detailed action-plan for students who are exhibiting Mean-on-Purpose behaviors, victims, and bystanders ⚡️Mean-on-Purpose Trackers for schools to document incidents and reports, including anonymous reporting tools for students who don’t feel comfortable sharing ⚡️Reflection sheets for students to debrief, deescalate, and document Teachers at URSTRONG Schools can access this interactive, customizable plan in our Resource Library! #friendology #urstrongschools #urstrong #bullyingprevention #friendshipskills
