This past weekend, we had the incredible opportunity to host a hands-on workshop led by our Career Support Specialist and Red Seal Endorsed Interior Systems Mechanic, Delaney Krieger! Through this workshop, young girls explored the skilled trades, learned how to work with tools and got a glimpse into Delaney’s inspiring journey in the trades. Each participant built and decorated their very own toolbox to hold their new Milwaukee hammer while gaining valuable insights into skilled trades pathways. Special shoutout to See it Be it STEM it for sharing their 2025 calendars—featuring Delaney herself for July! The girls also took home some fun Build a Dream swag, making this event one to remember. We’re proud to bring this program to life in partnership with the Girl Guides of Canada, providing opportunities for young girls across southern Ontario to explore their potential. Huge thanks to Libro Credit Union for funding this impactful initiative and supporting the next generation of tradeswomen. ⚡️Want to get involved or learn more about how you can support workshops like this? Empower. Inspire. Lead. Let’s spark curiosity in the next generation of trailblazers by encouraging young girls to explore careers in skilled trades, emergency response and entrepreneurship! These paths not only offer incredible opportunities but also pave the way for girls to lead, innovate and make a real impact. Here are 5 actionable tips to inspire girls to dream big: 1️⃣ Introduce Real Role Models: Share stories of women excelling in fields like firefighting, construction or launching successful businesses. Seeing relatable role models makes a world of difference. 2️⃣ Encourage Hands-On Experiences: Organize workshops where girls can try their hand at trades like carpentry, welding or building something from scratch. 3️⃣ Debunk Myths: Discuss how these careers aren’t “for boys” or “too hard.” Explain the demand for skilled workers, the value of emergency responders and the opportunities entrepreneurship offers. 4️⃣ Support Specialized Programs: Enrol them in trade camps, leadership incubators or first responder experiences. Equip them with real-world exposure to help build confidence. 5️⃣ Celebrate Their Wins: Recognize and praise achievements, whether it’s building a project, acing a leadership task or trying something new. Every step forward is a step toward a brighter future! #skilledtrades #police #firefighter #construction #entrepreneurship #leadership #STEM
