About us
Women of Influence+ isn’t here to change the narrative, we’re here to rewrite it. For almost three decades, we’ve been telling the unfiltered success stories of diverse role models, and providing a reimagined definition of what it means to be a woman of influence in today’s business world; a definition that actively includes thinking about how our influence impacts the world around us. We understand that there are many challenges women and their intersectionalities face when trying to navigate advancement in their careers. Instead of watching from the sidelines, we take a proactive, inclusive, and multi-faceted approach to ensure women are supported and celebrated every step of the way. At WOI+, we equip women with connections, support, training, and tools to carve new pathways, and excel within their careers on their own terms. No matter what stage you are at in your career when you discover the WOI+ platform, there is something here for you.

Regardless of your job, rank, or industry, written communication is a skill that can set you apart from your peers. Here’s a three-step framework to help you level up as a writer — whether you’re writing an email, a formal document, a social post, or something else. First, determine the purpose of what you’re writing. What result do you want to achieve? Are you looking to inform, persuade, or make a request? Then, identify exactly who your audience is and speak directly to them. This means using language that they understand and a voice that resonates with them. Finally, what’s your point? This is the essential substance of your writing. To locate the message you’re aiming to deliver, ask yourself how you would explain it to your audience in 15 seconds or less. https://lnkd.in/gAiF4Aiw

A Harvard Business Review article highlights how the similarity principle — favouring those with shared backgrounds, experiences, or characteristics — often limits women’s access to sponsorship for career-defining roles. With men holding most leadership positions, this bias typically results in women being over-mentored but under-sponsored. Research shows that having a mentor increased the likelihood of promotion for men two years later, but had no such effect for women. One reason is that women’s mentors were often less senior than those of their male counterparts, lacking the clout needed to advocate for their advancement. https://lnkd.in/gbwxncq

How often have you avoided conversations about periods or menopause? How many times have you worried about how it might affect the way you’re perceived in the workplace? Let’s face it: these natural aspects of women’s health remain shrouded in stigma, forcing many to navigate them in silence, uncertain of the judgment or consequences. This silence comes at a cost — on your well-being, your career, and your ability to show up fully at work. In our next LinkedIn Live, Dr. Woganee Filate, Physician, Co-Founder of Lume Women + Health, and certified menopause expert, will share her insights on how these experiences impact women and offer practical advice for navigating them in the workplace. From gaining a deeper understanding of your health to initiating conversations with confidence, she’ll offer actionable advice to help you advocate for your well-being at work. Join us for this important conversation on Tuesday, January 14th at 11:00 a.m. ET.

When you think of a leader, do you picture a dynamic, outgoing individual who commands attention effortlessly? It’s a common image, but it overlooks a powerful truth: introverted leaders offer immense value to their organizations. Their unique approach to leadership can be a game-changer. https://lnkd.in/dyfnb5PV

Your brain is a single-thread processor, not a high-speed server. Every time you switch tasks — what researchers call “context switching” — you pay a cognitive tax. That email you sent while on a Zoom call? It probably cost you 23 minutes of focused work. What if instead of flipping back and forth, you poured that energy into one thing? Monotasking can help minimize errors and enhance focus. It shifts your energy from scattered efforts to a more deliberate and effective approach. https://lnkd.in/gFSTemww

Many of us carry unspoken assumptions about how we “should” show up at work, creating invisible barriers that limit our potential. Radical self-acceptance starts with questioning these assumptions. Audit your self-perceptions: what strengths do you downplay? Reframe weaknesses as growth opportunities, and reflect on whether your “shoulds” come from personal values or external pressures. This shift can help unlock clarity, confidence, and a leadership style that’s truly your own. https://lnkd.in/gcWu9z2y
