Updates

  • York United FC have received their first-ever Canadian Premier League Business Award! The Nine Stripes picked up the Community Impact accolade after delivering two special moments during the 2024 season, both centred on creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences for young fans. 7-year-old Joseph Denkha, a regular visitor to the Complex Care Unit at North York General Hospital, was signed to a one-day contract with the club and given an experience to remember as he visited the locker room to meet his new team-mates, faced some tough reporters' questions at his special press conference and led both The Nine Stripes and Pacific FC onto the field. 9-year-old Damon Farbod has been battling a rare and serious form of polycystic kidney disease, since he was just three months old. Through the club's partnership with PKD Foundation of Canada, Damon got to live out his ultimate fantasy. As honorary captain for a huge clash with Atletico Ottawa, the entire stadium cheered him on as he dribbled from the halfway line and scored past goalkeeper Thomas Vincensini, inspiring the side to go on and conjure a big win over their bitter rivals. Our immense gratitude to our extraordinary local partners for allowing us to tell these stories. We're committed to celebrating the many heroes within our neighbourhoods and look forward to creating more special moments for them in 2025. #BetterTogether I #YorkUnitedFC

  • The Chosen One. The club is thrilled to announce Mauro Eustáquio as our new Head Coach. After serving as Assistant Coach with The Nine Stripes since February 2022, Mauro now becomes the youngest-ever permanent manager of a Tier 1 pro football club in North America and the first former Canadian Premier League player to subsequently serve as a Head Coach in the league. "This club means a lot to me, it’s close to my heart and I’m committed to delivering an extremely competitive team," he says. "The hard work doesn’t start now. The hard work continues." #BetterTogether I #YorkUnitedFC

  • The season might be over but that doesn't stop us from making even more history! Striker Brian Wright has become the very first York United FC player to win a Canadian Premier League award after a stellar campaign saw him score nine goals and add a further six assists for a league-high 15 goal contributions. Brian was voted Players' Player of the Year after a league-wide ballot saw his peers declare him the runaway winner. Congrats to him on a magnificent campaign and for doing the club proud. • "It made me feel brighter and better. I can't be more grateful. It was the best thing ever. One of the best things that ever happened to me." Damon Farbod is a lively and outgoing nine-year-old. But, he’s been battling serious health issues since he was just three months old. After being born prematurely, Damon was diagnosed with autosomal recessive polycystic kidney disease (ARPKD), a rare and serious form of polycystic kidney disease. A local boy, Damon’s team is The Nine Stripes and the club wanted to create an unforgettable experience for him at their recent Canadian Premier League game against Atletico Ottawa. Not only did Damon visit the locker room before the game, he was named as honorary captain and led both teams onto the field. And when match referee Yusri Rudolf blew the whistle to start the game, it was Damon’s chance to live out an ultimate fantasy. An inspirational moment for an inspirational boy. Thanks to everyone at the PKD Foundation for helping make this happen. #WeAreUnited #YorkUnitedFC

  • We're proud to join forces with Canadian global health organization Effect Hope. For over 130 years, Effect Hope has worked with partners to improve access to health services and help people overcome disease, disability and discrimination in Asia and Africa. The charity's new Athletes for Access campaign, which is focused on improving healthcare access in Liberia, features some York United players. And as part of our commitment, some official club jerseys were presented to local families during Effect Hope's recent outreach trip to remote Liberian communities. Thanks to photographer Tom Bradley for capturing some incredible moments. Please give what you can via the following link: https://shorturl.at/fgPlg

  • 🚨 𝐻𝑒𝒶𝓇𝓉𝓌𝒶𝓇𝓂𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒞𝑜𝓃𝓉𝑒𝓃𝓉 𝒜𝓁𝑒𝓇𝓉 🚨 ❤️ We are committed to finding, nurturing and developing young players. But, more importantly, we are committed to honouring the trust placed in us by families - not just from around the Greater Toronto Area but the whole country - who understandably seek reassurances about their child's development. We are proud of the relationships we've forged with parents, and how they've become integral parts of our club's fabric. 📺 When 16-year-old Shola Jimoh was included in the starting lineup for the very first time in our most recent game last Friday night, our attention immediately turned to how special a moment it was for the entire Jimoh family. So, our cameras focused on his Mum, Dad and sister for the entire game...just in case something memorable happened! ❗ Spoiler alert: something memorable happened! #WeAreUnited #YorkUnitedFC

"Our parents...they gave us wings. So now it's up to us to fly." We are immensely proud of our Assistant Coach, Mauro Eustáquio, who has joined Jesse Marsch's coaching staff ahead of two upcoming friendlies for the Canadian Men's National Team. It's been a challenging year for Mauro and he recently spoke to Neil Davidson about love, loss and his special relationship with younger brother, Stephen. #WeAreUnited #YorkUnitedFC
