Thank you to @kathleenblack_ for the incredible evening last night at the Canadian premiere of her documentary film, @therelentlessonefilm (part of which was filmed in our Drawing Room)! We were honoured to be the charity of choice at this inspiring event. Kathleen's vulnerability and willingness to share her story reminded us all of the impact of abuse in families and how there is a way out to a better, peaceful, and loving life. The power of mindset was on fully display during this film, and there was not a dry eye in the theatre. Thank you for choosing to donate $25,000 to our Y's WISH Shelter @kathleenblack_! And thank you to @letsgetthuet for connecting Kathleen to our agency.

About us
For over 75 years we have provided a safe and supportive place for women and children impacted by domestic violence in the Durham, Ontario region. We offer a 24-hour crisis line attached to our Y’s WISH Shelter, an emergency shelter for women and children in immediate danger. Our 2nd Stage Housing program provides safe and supportive housing for single women for two years and includes a Job/Life Skills Program. Interim Housing is a 6-month program that supports homeless women and our Supportive Housing offers geared-to-income apartments. We also offer several counselling and outreach programs for our clients and women in the community.

Thank you to the Ironworkers Local 721 and the Ironworkers Local 721 Motorcycle Club for their incredible $5,000 and $10,500 donations! In addition to this, they delivered loads and loads of toys for everyone. Absolutely amazing. We appreciate everything they’ve done for us over many years. This kind of commitment is rare, and very much appreciated. Now, save the date, for the Poker Run in the first or second weekend in June… stay tuned for that announcement. Thank you so much Ironworkers!!

Our Y's WISH Shelter held their annual holiday party in the Drawing Room yesterday. The holiday spirit was strong as women and children enjoyed treats, activities, and a visit from Santa! Shelter Program Manager Stephanie and Children's Advocate Worker Amelia hosted the party. Events like this are made possible by donors like you, and we thank you all! #CommunityGiving
