The Imperial Barrel Award (IBA) competition for 2024 is complete!! AAPG Canada congratulates the University of Alberta IBA team - the 2nd place (Selley Cup) winners of the IBA 2024 competition. Great work!! To Sumaila Sulemana, Ahmad Brahmanta A., Keytash Moshtaghian, and Jonathan Spence - way to represent geoscience at the U of A!! We would also like to congratulate all the geoscience students and teams across the globe that participated in American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Imperial Barrel Competition ! The AAPG Rockies and Andes workshop featured networking session organized by the AAPG Canada Young Professionals Chapter. Gareth Williams moderated a discussion with Elena Konstantinovskaya, University of Alberta; Xavier Moonan, Touchstone Exploration; Evan Thompson, Canadian Natural Resources Limited and Cole Narfason, Eavor. Panelists shared stories about their career paths and answered questions from attendees. Young professionals from the Canada and Latin America and Caribbean Regions enjoyed snacks and beverages while sharing ideas about how to promote member engagement in their local geoscience communities. Thanks to all the AAPG Canada YPs for organizing the event, and thanks to the experienced workshop attendees stayed late to interact with the next generation of energy industry leaders.
