  • The Social Impact-a-thon this past weekend was fantastic! The students heard from incredible guest speakers and then came up with their own innovative solutions towards climate change that they pitched to a panel of judges. We had 8 teams pitch – they all put in so much work and came up with great ideas in a very short timeframe, as they competed for a top 3 spot and cash awards! Here was the outcome… 🥇 First place winner ($1000) was Ciara Molloy (B. Geography), Katie Staubitzer (B. Commerce, co-op) & Jessica Ryder (B. Commerce) with their idea, Ecolawns – transforming conventional lawns into rewilded landscapes. 🥈Second place winner ($750) was Erfan Roueintan (M. Environmental Engineering), Zeinab Salehiankia (M. Environmental Science) & Farhan Amir Turjo (B. Geography) with their idea Roots & Routes – providing newcomers with essential skills for success in the green economy. 🥉Third place winner ($500) was Aman Gangani (B. Commerce) & Rahil Jiwani (B. Commerce) with their idea Proactive – a smart software platform providing real-time insights to ensure resource availability and disaster readiness. Huge congratulations to the winners and everyone who participated in our event! #ready4climateaction
