Sorrento/Almafi Coast/Positano/ Capri- recommend you visit all if you want a truly amazing Summer!!!

I did a ton of research when I was visiting Italy. I started in Rome for a few days before venturing to the South for 5 days (we can talk about Rome separately). Being a bit of a history buff, I wanted to venture to Pompeii and Naples, unfortunately the chilled, relaxing and coastal scenery beckoned me to visit Almafi Coast, Positano, Sorrento and Capri instead. Though, given I visited in August … I don’t think it was relaxing at all as tourists from all 4 corners of the 🌎 descended to the beautiful coastal area. The research I did was surrounding where to stay - each location had its pros and cons whilst I was doing research but eventually, in my opinion, the best decision I made was choose Sorrento as my base- it was by far the most convenient in terms of travelling to different areas and a good connection point back to the main cities (Rome/Milan etc.) however, if you stay at Almafi/Positano you’ll still need to through Sorrento regardless. Plus, in comparison, Sorrento is relatively flat meaning if you have luggages or prefer not to “hike” everywhere you go, if you were staying in Almafi/Positano, then Sorrento is your pick. Also, I found Sorrento way more affordable with better food choices- maybe because Almafi/Capri/Positano are more well known hence the the higher price tag -but I don’t think there was many good choices and also souvenirs are more expensive comparing the different locations. Although, I would say Sorrento’s scenery isn’t as stunning if I had to choose. Though I think value for money and selection, Sorrento gets my vote.
