This is not an exhibition about lacquer, love will find a way

Heard that Wang Yibo came to OōEli, so I thought I'd come and wander around. It just so happened that the b1ock exhibition was free today, so I took a quick look. Duan Yifan's solo exhibition theme is inspired by Paul Celan's poem "Two States of Being", a leap from bondage to freedom, an escape from the inside out. Exploring the possibilities of lacquer, finding new ways of expression, and self-examination. Chairs of various shapes can be seen everywhere, along with flattened cans and ice cream, and the huge space is full of drama and humor. The long hours of hand polishing are like a kind of practice, and the process of lacquer desensitization is also a symbol of lacquer slowly seeping into life. Those ordinary roles in life carry a certain existential reflection, longing for an expression that is true to themselves. Lacquer is sealed like the indomitable spirit of Sisyphus, transforming the insignificance of humanity into immortality, pushing it to the edge of freedom.
