The Mausoleum of Emperor Taizong of Tang is located on Mount Jiuzong

Emperor Taizong of Tang, Li Shimin, was an outstanding politician and military strategist in Chinese history, and a very accomplished feudal emperor. He reigned for twenty-three years and established the brilliant monument of the Zhenguan era, which was praised by later generations. He personally chose Mount Jiuzong in Lixian County as his burial site and named it Zhaoling. Zhaoling is 1224.9 meters above sea level, with a steep mountainous terrain, located in the shade of the Jing River and the sun of the Wei River. It is separated from Mount Taibai and Zhongnan Mountain by the vast Guanzhong Plain, with rolling hills on both sides, creating a spectacular view. From the tenth year of Tang Zhenguan (AD 636) when Empress Wende of Taizong, Empress Changsun, was first buried, to the twenty-ninth year of Kaiyuan (AD 743), the construction of Zhaoling Mausoleum lasted for 107 years. A large number of cultural relics have been preserved both above and below the ground, which are the physical evidence of the early Tang Dynasty's transition to the prosperous Tang Dynasty. Li Shimin ascended to the throne, and his reign was known as the Zhenguan era. In the early years of his reign, he listened to the opinions of his ministers and accepted advice humbly. He governed the country with literature, practiced frugality, encouraged agriculture and sericulture, and achieved recuperation and peace, creating the 'Zhenguan Governance'. He expanded the territory, defeated the Eastern Turks and Xueyantuo, conquered Gaochang, Kucha and Tuyuhun, and severely damaged Goguryeo.
