|Heqiao Wangye. Huiji Bridge is located in Dongcheng Village, Guta Town, Pingyao County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, spanning the lower reaches of the Huiji River. It was built in the 10th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1671). Originally a five-hole stone arch bridge, it was later expanded to a nine-hole arch bridge, commonly known as the "Nine-Eyed Bridge." In the late Qing Dynasty, it was listed as one of the twelve scenic spots in Pingyao under the name "Heqiao Wangye." The entire bridge is 80 meters long, with a slightly arched bridge deck paved with stone slabs. The arches of the five central bridge holes are carved with dragon heads and tails on both sides. Stone railings and balustrades are set on both sides of the bridge, with carvings of rare birds and beasts, auspicious flowers, and patterns of the characters for "fortune," "prosperity," and "longevity." The balustrade heads are carved with lions, flower buds, and "Eight Treasures" images. Huiji Bridge is finely constructed, with tightly grouted stone seams, making it a valuable physical material for studying ancient Chinese bridge construction techniques. In recent years, not only has Huiji Bridge itself been protected, but a protection area has also been designated, and a park has been built, making it a place for local residents to relax and entertain. Apart from prohibiting motor vehicles, electric vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians continue to flow on the ancient Huiji Bridge. For over 300 years, Huiji Bridge has not only withstood multiple floods and remained standing but also continues to play an important role in ensuring the passage of people on both sides of the Huiji River.
