It was a long-cherished dream to visit the Mayan ruins, and I am truly glad I did. The Castillo, dedicated to the supreme Mayan god Kukulkan, the wall carvings, and the ball court were all fascinating. The rituals of offering hearts, reflecting a different perspective on life and death compared to modern times, were particularly moving. It was a profound experience to see how human history varies so greatly across different eras.
