Booked via travel agency in our hotel and going here will cost you 150 rmb that includes the transportation, lunch and insurance but if you want to see more---herdsmen, yurts, horse backriding, equestrian show you have to pay 660 rmb. But if you want just the show then that's only 280 rmb.
Overall experience is not that great but amazing thing is that you get to experience their food---the milk with salt and other treats made of milk.

Desert Treasure | “Earth’s Heart”🌍🫀
Ulan Lake is located in Alxa Left Banner, Inner Mongolia, China. After crossing the vast desert that seems to connect heaven and earth, but before losing your way due to signal loss, you'll discover a scorching-hot oasis surrounded by sand dunes. ☀️🏜️
In Mongolian, "Ulan" means "red."❤️ This salt lake releases a type of carotenoid🥕 pigment, and the higher the temperature, the more it releases. Therefore, under the sunshine☀️, the lake water appears vividly red♦️. The lake resembles blood, and white alkali flats spread like veins, shimmering in the sunlight. This is Ulan Lake, often referred to as the "heart of the Earth." 🫀🌊
🕐 The best time to visit is during the summer, around July to September. 🔖 In reality, Ulan Lake consists of two smaller lakes and one larger lake. When viewed from above, the smaller lakes form a heart shape. ❤️
📍 Location: Located in the hinterland of the Tengger Desert, Alxa Left Banner, Inner Mongolia. 🚗 Getting There: To reach Ulan Lake, you'll need to traverse the desert. It's recommended to hire a local professional driver; self-driving is not practical unless you have extensive desert driving experience. 🚙
⚠️ The famous 'Heart of the Earth' at Ulan Lake is located next to the main lake. It's surrounded by reeds and mud, and tourists can't get close to it. You'll need a drone to view it from above. ✈️ ◻️ While walking around Ulan Lake, be mindful of where you step🚶♀️, as it's easy to sink into the mud.
📌 Tips: ❣️ Among the Five Lakes, Ulan Lake, Sun Lake, and Swan Lake are recommended, so consider spending more time at these three places. Sun Lake is orange, and it's a great place for flying drones. The shore of Swan Lake is beautiful, with two crooked-neck trees perfect for photographs. 📷 ❣️ Additionally, crossing the Five Lakes includes sand dune activities. Drivers navigate off-road vehicles up and down the dunes, and the excitement level is comparable to a small roller coaster. If you're prone to motion sickness, it's advisable to eat lightly in the morning, as there are no smooth roads in the desert. 🌄🏖️ Credit📷: @Chonglangshou

Inner Mongolia
Traveling around China is a wonderful experience! You meet a great diversity of cultures, landscapes and amazing sightseeings! Just 6 hours by bus from Beijing and you will feel like on the other part of the world. Inner Mongolia meets tourists with its unique traditions and a lifestyle. People are very friendly. We had an opportunity to watch the show about Mongolian traditions. It was very interesting. In the late evening there was a show by the fire outside, on the field. Then we spent a night in yurts ⛺️. That was an interesting experience! Recommend it for people who are tired of the city life.

Extreme hiking
Solo trekking through the Tengger Desert in Inner Mongolia. This was a surreal, unreaĺ, immensely difficult task but remains one of my proudest accomplishments to date
Located in the far Northwest of China the Tengger Desert is a vast empty area of wilderness there is nothing around except for desolate sand. However this doesn't mean it's without charm. It's actually nice in it's own way. With a real sense of nature. There is beauty here too with the sand dunes providing excellent backgrounds to the horizon.
Challenge yourself to a once in a lifetime experience and something you'll never forget

Would you rather ride a Horse or a Camel?
Would you rather sleep inside a modern Yurt or camp in a desert?
Why not do all of them?
Ride a horse, ride a camel, stay in a yurt (with hot shower), camp in a desert, and experience a totally different side of China in Inner Mongolia!
Inner Mongolia 内蒙古, Nèi Měnggǔ or in Mongolian: Öbür mongɣul, is a Mongol Autonomous Region in northern China, whereas Outer Mongolia is a separate country to the north of China.
We visited the Xilamuren grassland, Kubuqi desert, and I extended the trip to stay overnight in Hohhot -a surprisingly VERY modern and thriving city (they have large malls and shared-scooter, not bike!)
Be ready for some long bus ride during the trip, the area is huge! We were only visiting a tiny bit of Inner Mongolia, the birthplace of Genghis Khan. There are definitely a LOT more to see.
I’ll let the photos speak for themselves.
Tips: for best experience (with clear starry sky night during your desert camp), plan your trip when in non-rainy months! Oh, and get ready to be a cat during your camp in the desert. Just gotta say, it’s a giant litter-box, if you know what I meant.
Getting There - take a flight to Hohhot and take a connecting bus ride to the grassland / desert area.
Attractions - Mongolian Yurt, Mongolian horse ride, Desert camping, and lots of fun!
Hotels - Hohhot has a lot of modern hotels, but obviously you’ll need to find those Yurt hotels.
Food & Restaurants - Mongolian foods typically very meaty: lamb, beef, and its produce: milk, yogurt, cheese; and also hotpot! (warning: their milk tea is salty; need to ask for sweet version).
Shopping - Traditional trinkets & souvenirs.
Vegan Friendliness - can be requested in a typical Chinese foods restaurant, but not so much in the traditional Yurt’s Zhama Banquet dinner.

Hiking the Alchemy Furnace Volcano 🌋
The Ulan Hada Volcano Group, also known as the Liandanlu Volcano(Alchemy Furnace Volcano), is located in Chahar Right Wing Banner, Ulan Qab City, Inner Mongolia. It is more than 400 kilometers from Beijing and has a total area of 65.9 square kilometers.
I visited with a tour group. We opted to go by train. The train ride was roughly a little over 2 hours. We then took an additional 2 hour bus ride to the volcano.
I was surprised as to how popular this site is. We were greeted with a long line of traffic and an alarming amount of visitors. When planning your trip to this site, pay keen attention to your itinerary to see what it allows.
The walk to the top of the volcano is roughly 30 minutes, depending on your hiking skill set. I must warn you that the unofficial hiking trail is made of pebbles that make it really difficult to hike up without slipping a couple times… so hike at your own risk ⚠️ At the top of the volcano you’ll be greeted by a breathtaking view so it’s definitely worth the risk.
if you’re a nature lover then this site is perfect for you! Feel free to walk around and explore this beautiful space. You can even mix things up a bit by ordering space suits that are available on site for rental (approximately 150-250 rmb).
Overall, it was a great experience. I can finally cross hiking a volcano off my bucket list ✅

A short trip in Inner Mongolia
Getting There - super easy with the high speed train from Beijing (less than 3 hours)🚄
Attractions - hikes on dead volcanoes 🌋, horse riding in green grasslands 🐎 and camels in the deserts 🐫
Hotels - when booking check in advance if they accept foreign guests
Food & Restaurants - go for yogurts🥤and roasted lamb! 🍗
Each attraction is quite far form each other, around 3-4 hours drive. Driving around with your own private car is the best option.

Inner Mongolia is definitely a worthwhile trip. I went during the Labor Day Holiday with a tour group called Joy Tours, so it was easy to get around.
We went to Xilamuren Glasslands and even though the grass was not as green (due to the season), it was still very beautiful and refreshing see so yurts sitting on an endless landscape, blue skies and animals grazing the fields. We were greeted by the Mongolians with a white bowl of white wine (Báijiǔ) which we had to take a sip, and treated to lunch. We watched an equestrian show performed by Mongolians, then later rode a horse (very slowly) on the grasslands. There was a show and bon fire in the evening at our yurt accommodation. One of my favorite moments was being greeted by the millions of stars, and ended up stargazing for the rest of the night. We also visited the Kubuqi Desert which was lovely but very windy, and didn't get a lot of time to experience it. My partner and I then missioned alone to Ordos, and visited the "Ghost City", as well as Genghis Khan Mausoleum. The "Ghost City", to me, did not feel like a ghost city but rather a city that has potential to thrive in the future. The Genghis Khan Mausoleum was absolutely beautiful and his name is clearly still being honored by many. It was very interesting to see how two cultures still co-existed in this area: Chinese and Mongolians, although majority of the population were Chinese. Both languages were used and displayed on every sign. Mongolian culture is very interesting: different, yet has similarities to other cultures. I would have loved to experience more of it, and the best way to experience it, I think, is in the grasslands, or Mongolia itself.

Fantastic streets around the temple with a large number of stalls selling allsorts. Another street has a number of small cafe type shops. The temple was very very impressive and free. A genuine taste of China culture. Interesting tower for a short visit. Do not need to spend a lot of time here as there's nothing much to see there

If you look at the Internet, the meaning of the word "Ordos" in Mongolian is mostly interpreted as "a place with many palaces", but there is no period in history where there are really many palaces. After deep communication with the locals, I found that the more reliable explanation may be the southern grassland. Erdos is located at the southern end of the desert, and its Mongolian pronunciation is similar to that of Ordosuo. - Perhaps this is the true origin of the word Erdos.
D1:
Kambash New District
Kambash New District is a high-tech development zone located more than 30 kilometers southwest of Ordos, about half an hour drive from the airport. When you enter Kangbash, you will find that everything here is exceptionally advanced every building is as grand as the Great Hall of the People. The
Ordos Museum
Museum is divided into several different exhibition halls, of which Halls 2, 3 and 5 are recommended for viewing. Hall 2 is the Ordos Paleontology Exhibition, Hall 3 is the Ordos Mongolian History and Culture Exhibition, and Hall 5 is the farming, nomadic, collision, and blending Erdostong history exhibition.
Geerle Ama
This is the most distinctive Inner Mongolia restaurant. It is all in a variety of interior styles. Even the waiters are all Mongolians.
D2:
Ulan Mulun Lake Musical Fountain
Kambash's Ulan Mulun Lake Musical Fountain is the world's largest musical fountain and the tallest fountain that can be sprayed to 209 meters.
Genghis Khan Mausoleum
Genghis Khan Mausoleum, the locals are called Chengling, the original Genghis Khan's crown, and the Dahlite has been guarding. The
equestrian show
equestrian show takes place at Nadam Square, southeast of the Genghis Khan Mausoleum. The Mongols are really a legendary horseback nation. This wonderful equestrian performance is really thrilling, and it is a sweat for them. The venue of the
marriage show
wedding show was performed in the big yurt of the Brakhot Hotel near Nadam Square. The Ordos wedding is very unique and the program can last for a few days.

A winter trip to Inner Mongolia is a chance to encounter stunning scenery.
What to do in Hohhot in winter?
When it comes to Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, the first thing that comes to mind is the vast grasslands. It seems that there is nothing to do in winter. Indeed, many scenic spots are closed during this season. What to do? Actually, it's time to try something different! Off-road vehicle routes offer a chance to see many natural wonders, such as snowy volcanoes, the Red Mountain, and the desert. Off-road vehicles can take you through forests and grasslands, skiing, and snowmobiling. These activities are perfect for this winter. There are very few people during this season, so you can have a great experience without going to crowded places like Harbin.
Recommended attractions:
Desert
Many scenic spots are closed, but the Kubuqi Desert and Resonant Sand Gorge are still open in November. You don't have to go to a scenic spot to enjoy the desert. Local tours offer off-road vehicle rides through the desert. This tour includes a four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle that takes you to the wild desert of Longtouguai, deep into the desert, where you can enjoy unlimited sandboarding.
Grassland
The grass in Huitengxile Grassland has turned yellow, and the scenic spot is closed. At this time, local tours can take you through the Huiteng Forest Grassland, a relatively niche area with no entrance fee. It features birch and pine forests, offering a more primitive landscape.
Wulanhada Volcano
Wulanhada Volcano is free all year round. The volcano is black, and its appearance is not affected by the seasons.
Red Mountain
This is not a scenic spot, but a red Danxia landform. The red mountain is perfect for photography, with no filter needed. The road is under construction, so low-chassis cars are not suitable. You need a high-chassis off-road vehicle.
This season is perfect for off-road vehicle tours. You can enjoy many natural landscapes without entrance fees.
❤❤ Food Recommendations 🍛
Pot tea milk tea (salty or sweet), ice-cooked lamb (highly recommended!!), roasted lamb chops, milk skin, stuffed tripe, jiong noodles, handmade old yogurt, freshly roasted beef jerky, sand onion scrambled eggs, lamb skewers, xiguo soup, lamb shumai, yurt cake, etc.
❤❤ Tips
Inner Mongolia is vast and sparsely populated. If you drive or travel independently, it can be difficult to solve any problems that arise. It is recommended to join a reliable local tour group. This way, accommodation, transportation, and tickets are all planned for you. The cost per person is not expensive, and compared to independent travel, it is truly more convenient and cost-effective!

Explore the Inner Mongolia grasslands.
For just 300 RMB, I took a train across half of the Inner Mongolia grasslands.
Trains are a great way to travel, allowing you to enjoy the scenery along the way. There is a legendary train that takes 19 hours to cross the Xilingol grasslands, Yin Mountains, and the Greater Khingan Range. The scenery is stunning, and it's a low-budget way to travel. Here's a guide to the grassland train:
Grassland Train: K2014 [Hohhot → Ulanhot], departs daily at 18:00 from Hohhot Station, heading east.
The next morning, between Xilinhot and Holingol, the train travels across the vast grasslands for 7 hours.
The sunrise outside the window between "Xilinhot → Xiwuzhumuqin Banner" is beautiful! The sparse trees, lakes, and sheep are faintly reflected in the grasslands.
"Xiwuzhumuqin Banner → Baiyinhuanan" is the scenic highlight of this train journey. The gentle hills, babbling streams, and cattle and sheep grazing on the grasslands are a healing sight.
"Baiyinhuanan → Holingol" is where the grasslands and coal mines meet. The fusion of nomadic culture and industrial architecture creates a unique beauty. "Holingol → Ulanhot" transitions from grasslands to farmland, with the vast forests of the Greater Khingan Range in the distance and hay bales scattered everywhere. The poetic scenery is like a distant dream, indescribably relaxing.
Tips:
There are four trains between Hohhot and Ulanhot every day, but only K2014 passes through the Xilingol grasslands during the day. If you love scenery, we recommend taking K2014.
The train passes through Ulanqab and Xilinhot.
If you're departing from Beijing, you can board at either of these two stations.
You can choose between soft and hard sleepers on this train, ranging from 300–500 RMB. After arriving in Ulanhot, you can take a train or drive to Arxan, or start a trip around Hulunbuir. Both are great options.

One of the most worth it trip ever

Badain Jaran Desert, Inner Mongolia.
Find a rose-colored sea in the desert
I declare that Badain Jaran is the most beautiful desert in my heart
I really love it! In addition to the exciting desert off-road and the magical sand dunes, this dry desert also hides more than 100 colorful lakes, especially the red ones like roses! Who can resist the sudden girlish heart in the desert.
Inner Mongolia, Badain Jaran Desert
In the depths of the desert, you must take an off-road vehicle to go. It is recommended to take a two-day and one-night Badain Jaran chartered route. You can see two red lakes, multiple blue and yellow seas, and temples and seas in the desert. When the weather is clear and there is no wind, you can see the desert reflected on the water, which is particularly dreamy!
Go to Badain Jaran to take a photo guide
You must bring a drone, if you don't have one, you can find a chartered car with aerial photography
√The red sea is brightly colored, you can wear contrasting clothes, such as black and white, I went to Badain Jaran and Tengger Wuhu and wore black, you can't go wrong~ You can bring a scarf to increase the presence of people
It’s better to take pictures of people walking to the middle of the lake. It’s safer to walk along the white salt edge of the Red Sea.
There is more lake water in May, and it is a bit dry when I go in early June, but the dry place is light pink, and it is also good for taking pictures

Great value for money trip to Inner Mongolia.
I took my parents to Inner Mongolia some time ago🏜. When we first decided to go, we were very happy, but when we were discussing the way to travel, we had some differences.
My parents think self-driving travel is better and saves money; but I think Inner Mongolia has a vast territory and the distances between various scenic spots are not close🚗. Although self-driving travel saves money, it may waste a lot of time and energy because of unfamiliarity with the road conditions.
And I prefer to spend a small amount of money to enjoy the trip and make every penny worth it😎, so although it took some effort later, I successfully persuaded my parents to try a more comfortable and relaxed way of traveling—— 🐬Chartered tour.
We contacted the tour guide in advance and communicated about where we wanted to go and what we wanted to experience. We also specifically explained that we were traveling with our parents this time and hoped that he would take his parents' age into consideration when making plans. My parents and I can not only save time on driving🚗 and doing guides during the trip, but we can also focus more on enjoying the good times during the trip.
The tour guide is worthy of being a tour guide. He clearly arranged the itinerary for this week for us. Taking into account the lack of physical strength of the elderly, he gave us enough rest time at the scenic spots and routes along the way~
Here I highly recommend Xiangshawan to everyone!!!
✨There are two large islands in Xiangshawan: one allows you to experience various sand activities with just a package ticket, and the other has a huge sand mountain that is super photogenic.
The time arranged by the tour guide was very reasonable, just in time to miss the crowds, and we didn't have to suffer from queuing at all. We were also not like many tourists who saw "a sea of people" when they arrived.
There was an episode at Shashan 🔒. The photos my parents took for me really didn’t meet the aesthetics of us young people. They were more or less standard tourist photos. I originally thought I could only take selfies as a souvenir, but the tour guide took the initiative to take the camera and was very skillful. Find the angle and suggest a pose.
I was a little messy at the time, but judging from the professional photography posture of the tour guide, it seemed to be pretty good, so I put it in various poses and took various shots, and the resulting film turned out to be very good, and I basically didn’t need to edit it to post it directly to my friends.
Overall, with the proper arrangements of the tour guide, it was a very enjoyable trip❤️. Even my parents, who initially insisted that self-driving travel was better, praised it 🐬The chartered car tour is great value for money
Inner Mongolia is very good, I will come again next time~
