[2024 Kyoto Stay] Travel Guide for Hotel the Mitsui Kyoto, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Spa (Updated Dec)
Mitsui: A luxury collection in lovely Kyoto
The entrance of the hotel is so unexpected. The hotel is just located next to the small lake stream and once you enter the hotel it seems like you have entered a different era. The reception and lobby is very welcoming with relaxing view of the outdoor garden and small lake. Many picture opportunities in the lobby and outdoor area. The rooms are spacious and well designed with great layout. Rooms facing the outdoor garden view is magnificent.
The spa with huge hot bath has to be pre-booked prior to arriving to ensure it is not super crowded. The entire stays feel very luxurious and inviting. The nearest convenience store is located approximately 5 mins walk. The Kyoto main areas are within walkable distance from the hotel too. #Kyoto #luxuryhotel #Mitsui

The courtyard garden is stunning during both the day and night. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the turndown service always comes with a little surprise like a face mask or cookies. Every little detail is thought through. The thermal baths are also incredible, and I regret only using them once. I’ve never felt lucky to stay at a hotel before, but I’m very fortunate to have been able to stay here. I hope to make it back one day.overall awesome

Executive Suite Experience at Mitsui Luxury Collection Hotel Kyoto✨
🎈This time in Kyoto, I chose the Mitsui Luxury Collection Hotel Kyoto, which was designed by my favorite designer Andre Fu.
🛏️I stayed in a Nijo Room and an Executive Suite. The hotel upgraded us to a Nijo Castle view room on the first night, and said it would be upgraded to an executive suite in the next two days.
🌟The executive suite is about 80 square meters in size and has a full sense of space. The view is great, even though it’s just a city view, but the houses in Kyoto are super cute. The living room has standard facilities such as a writing desk, sofa area and guest bathroom. The bedroom has a bathroom, a dressing room, a small dressing table and a small desk. The atmosphere of the room is great, the details are perfect, and the finish is extremely high. However, there is a small disadvantage. You cannot turn off all the lights in the room with one click on the bedside. You have to turn on the table lamps one by one😅. The bed is very comfortable, soft but not collapsed, and the bedding is also very smooth. The bathroom is beautiful, and the shower water pressure is amazing. It feels like some of the water will be atomized, and the water volume is sufficient without being too impactful.
💁The hotel service is also very good, sit-down check-in, welcome tea and sugar. After checking in, someone will be taken to the room to introduce the facilities. The room was cleaned super clean, the bed was also cleaned again, and the service response was very fast.
🍽️In terms of dining, I had Toki and breakfast. Toki is the hotel's signature restaurant, Japanese and French cuisine, seems to have one Michelin star, and tastes good. But there was a waiter who didn’t speak English very well and barely understood a few words when introducing the dishes😆. The breakfast in the hotel is average. If it's free, you can try it.
📍The hotel is located next to Nijo Castle, and there are many delicious and fun places around. However, it is a bit far away from the 2020 and 300s levels, so you need to take a taxi.
Overall, Mitsui Luxury Collection Hotel Kyoto is definitely a hotel worth experiencing. I personally feel that the experience is better than the Park Hyatt Kyoto (except for the view).

As expected from a major tycoon, the Kyoto Mitsui Luxury Collection Hotel is truly top-notch
As one of the three flagship hotels of the Marriott Group in Kyoto, the Mitsui Luxury Collection is the newest one. I have stayed at the Suiran Luxury Collection before and have dined at the Ritz-Carlton in Kyoto, so this time I chose another Mitsui Luxury Collection during the red leaf season. The fact proves that both the hardware and the service are quite good👍
📍Location: The hotel is located in front of Nijo Castle. If you take the subway from Kyoto Station, it only takes four stops. It is very convenient to walk to the hotel from the subway station, and it is close at hand to walk to Nijo Castle from the hotel✅
🏨Hardware facilities: Compared with the famous Ritz-Carlton, the hardware of the Mitsui Luxury Collection is even more than enough, after all, it is newer and the owner is a major tycoon. The investment in hardware is visible to the naked eye and the strong texture is very good. The non-suite area is also spacious enough, and a foyer is set up at the entrance to increase the sense of privacy. The hotel is equipped with hot springs but unfortunately there is no swimming pool.
📝Others: The service is very in place, the check-in is active and enthusiastic, arranged to sit in the lobby bar and serve tea and snacks, and at the same time introduced the hotel facilities in detail. Because it is the red leaf season and the hotel is full, the Titanium Gold member can only be upgraded to the courtyard room and cannot be upgraded to the suite, but it is still very good. The restaurant environment is also quite good, it is quite comfortable to have breakfast facing the courtyard, and the food is exquisite and of high quality
❤
Apart from the price being a bit spicy, there are almost no other shortcomings, especially the price is quite exaggerated during the peak season💰

Pilgrimage to the ancient capital: 5 ultimate accommodations to immerse you in the charm of Kyoto
🏮 As the former capital of Japan, Kyoto is known for its thousand-year-old shrines, hundred-year-old buildings 🏯, cherry blossoms, and maple leaves 🍁. It is famous for its colorful culture, cuisine, and beautiful scenery 🎐. It is the spiritual homeland of the Japanese and a symbol of Japanese culture 🎎.
🎎 Today, I recommend 5 hotels for those who want to travel, where you can enjoy the beauty of Kyoto from your bed 💗.
-
🏡 Hoshinoya Kyoto | Located in the most famous Arashiyama 🌱 in Kyoto, it integrates natural scenery into Japanese classical culture design, creating a 'secluded place' 🎐. The way to enter the hotel by boat up the Hozu River has been rated as the most grand and luxurious entrance ceremony in the world. With the concept of 'waterside private residence', the facilities are built around the 'water garden' 💦 and 'stone garden'; the only 25 rooms all face the Hozu River and Ogurayama, where you can enjoy the century-old cherry blossoms and maple trees 🍁 from your window, the different scenery of the four seasons is intoxicating.
-
🏡 Suiran, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kyoto | Located on the north bank of the Hozu River 💦, the gate retains the typical Japanese aristocratic style, like a mountain gate that packs everything behind it into the courtyard. In the space that combines traditional charm and modern aesthetics, there are only 39 rooms 🛏, some of which are equipped with open-air cypress pools ♨. The 'Kyoto · Suiran' restaurant and 'Tea House · Yasui' 🍵 were renovated from century-old buildings from the Meiji era. The hot spring spa not only uses pure natural tea seed oil for body care, but also offers special facial treatments with Kyoto green tea and jade 💆.
-
🏡 The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto | Located to the east of Nijo Castle, it was formerly the private residence of the Mitsui family 🏯. The Kajii Mon gate, which has guarded the Mitsui family for three hundred years, serves as the main entrance 🚪, and the sound of trickling water and four-season vegetation embody the concept of 'one with the garden'. The 161 rooms are decorated with antique wood, 👨🎨 is the culmination of Fu Houmin's minimalist style. As the only hotel in the city center that draws natural hot springs from deep underground, it has a 1000㎡ spa center 💆, creating a top-notch sense of tranquility with a special scent 🎐.
-
🏡 Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto | In the 800-year-old 'Sekisuien' ☘, it integrates tradition and seasonal features to create a harmonious environment. 🛏 123 rooms and 57 residential suites are designed with the theme of 'past and present' in Kyoto, capturing the full view of the 'Sekisuien' in all four seasons 🍂. In addition to the tea room 🍵 floating in the pond of Sekisuien, it also has the largest spa facilities in Kyoto. The occasional geisha and kabuki performances 💃 showcase the classical charm of Kyoto passed down through the generations ✨.
-
🏡 Park Hyatt Kyoto | Located at the end of the Ninenzaka in Higashiyama, Kyoto, ⛩ it complements the iconic landmarks, temples, ⛲ sacred gardens, and natural four seasons, forming a unique architectural treasure 🔮. Adhering to the Japanese philosophy of 'one with the garden' design 🎨, it creates 70 rooms and suites, cleverly combining the unique culture of elegant art in the ancient capital of Japan and the elegant beauty of the Park Hyatt brand 🎐.
