Thing you need to know before visiting Monas
#vianasjourney #awesomepic
Apart of wanting to learn of it’s history, there are few details that you should know before visiting this place (These were my personal experiences). If you were taking grab like me, it would be better for you to pin the location at Southwest (barat daya) of Monas. From there, there’s a free transportation that can drive you to the entrance side as the walk to the building are quite far. Remember to bring local cash beforehand for buying entrance ticket as they only accept cash and money changer are far from the area. If you planning to go to the top of the building, there’s only one small lift that I think can fit max 6 person and it moves slow. So you might need to wait longer for this. What to expect once you reach the top is, it’s basically just a small area of space where you can see some building (president’s place, the only building that I was impressed by). At the bottom/ ground floor, you’ll be able to see a medium area of national museum. That’s basically what’s there. Not much but it was nice to learn the history of Indonesia.

National Monument MONAS 433ft
Located at the centre of Merdeka Square, National Monument (MONAS) is a must to visit when you arrive Indonesia.
The entry ticket to the museum and to the peak of the monument is relatively cheap at IDR20,000. You have to purchase the ticket and get your number to the peak, which is less than 1 hour for me to reach the peak.
In the museum itself, you will know how the Indonesian fight for their independence. Soekarno Hatta was their First President who struggle for independence from the Dutch colonialists. Indonesia gain its independence on 17 Aug 1945.
At the peak, you will get a spectacular view of the Jakarta. There is no limit of time spend at the observation deck. So, enjoy as much time as you can at the peak with the free of charge binoculars provided at every corners
Free tram service will ride you to the exit upon completion of your visit at MONAS 🥰🥰

This structure reaches a height of 132 meters and is situated on Freedom Square. Building work started in 1961 and finished in 1975. 🏗️ It was inaugurated by the then coup leader Suharto. 🎀 The monument is crafted from Italian marble, with the top adorned with 35 kilograms of gold leaves, gold-plated. 🏛️ From afar, it resembles a masculine figure, standing tall like a pillar. The lower part of the monument has been converted into the National Museum of History. 🏰
It should be noted that this elevator ticket is divided by time, and the ticket seller will not tell you so detailed. If you buy at
11:00, you are likely to buy a ticket from 12:00 to 13:00, which can easily cause you to wait outside for a long time, and you need to be flexible in dealing with it.

You can purchase ticket to enter the monument, and check out the tiny museum with Sukarno voice playing to tell independence. The weather was super hot and may not come for second time. However, it’s a good landmark to visit.
I want to travel to Hong Kong to check out historical landmark there.

Indonesia Omelette - Kerak Telor
Looking for a authentic Indonesia food? You can try out Kerak Telor, which is available at most of the food court at Jakarta.
Kerak telor is a Betawi traditional omelette of Indonesian cuisine. You can choose either chicken eggs or duck eggs. For my case, I choose the duck egg. The ingredients for Kerak Telor includes glutinous rice cooked with egg and served with serunding, fried shallots and generous coconut husk.
A piece of Kerak Telor cost me IDR25,000.
Its quite a dry dish for me, and I need to drink plenty of water after that. 😅😅
Worth trying, as it took around 5 minutes to prepare a piece of Kerak Telor
