Namaste, Swayambhunath Stupa
Swayambhunath Temple or also call as "Monkey Temple", overlooks most parts of the valley giving visitors a panoramic view of the city. The stupa has stood as a hallmark of faith and harmony for centuries with Hindu temples and deities incorporated in this Buddhist site. The glory of Kathmandu Valley is said to have started from this point.
Resting on a hillock 3 km west of Kathmandu, Swayambhu is one of the holiest Buddhist Stupas in Nepal. The entire structure of the Stupa is deeply symbolic: the whitewashed dome is the earth, the pair of eyes are Buddha’s eyes, and the nose-like structure actually represents unity. The 13-tiered-gilded tower represents the 13 stages to Nirvana.
It’s so peaceful and magical up here. You’ll see the lower dome, embellished with chains of prayer wheels, embossed with the sacred mantra om mani padme hum (‘hail to the jewel in the lotus’). Pilgrims circuiting the Stupa spin each one as they pass by. Fluttering above the Stupa are thousands of prayer flags, with similar mantras, which are said to be carried to heaven by the Wind Horse. Set in ornate plinths around the base of the Stupa are statues representing the five Dhyani Buddhas – Vairocana, Ratnasambhava, Amitabha, Amoghasiddhi and Aksobhya – and their consorts. These deities represent the five qualities of Buddhist wisdom.
The five different colours on the prayer flags also mean different things. The blue colour represents the sky, white signifies the air, red is fire, green is water, and yellow is earth. Each flag is printed with a different mantra to spread positive energy with the wind, and it’s also believed that prayer flags are never meant to touch the earth.
Up here, you can also see a few other religious monuments, sites and shrines such as the Swayambhunath Buddhist Museum and World Peace Pond, with its beautiful statue of a Buddha holding a cauldron. Visitors try to flip coins into the cauldron – if they make it, their wishes will come true! If you are in Kathmandu, you must visit the Stupa at least once. Or maybe twice! Trust me; it will leave you speechless. Namaste!

If life is too bitter, come and see Nepal
Nepal, this mysterious country nestled under the Himalayas, is a sacred place that people yearn for. Here, the ancient and the modern intertwine, nature and culture blend together, and every breath seems to absorb the purity and spirituality from the snowy mountains. Below is the Nepal travelogue I have carefully planned, hoping to lead you into this earthly paradise and experience a different kind of travel.
Attractions Introduction: A visual feast from historical sites to snowy mountains
• Kathmandu Valley: As the cultural heart of Nepal, it is dotted with World Heritage Sites. The ancient palaces of Durbar Square, the sacred atmosphere of the Pashupatinath Temple, and the Buddha eyes overlooking from the Monkey Temple (Swayambhunath Stupa), each place is a testament to history and faith.
• Pokhara: Backed by the Annapurna mountain range and facing Phewa Lake, it is a paradise for trekkers and a haven for those seeking peace of mind. In the early morning, take off from Sarangkot hilltop on a paraglider and take in the magnificent views of the snowy mountains and the lake.

Food Exploration: Nepal on the tip of the tongue
Nepalese cuisine is a blend of Indian, Chinese, and Tibetan flavors, recommended to try:
• Dal Bhat: The national dish of Nepal, consisting of lentil soup, rice, vegetable curry, and pickles, nutritionally balanced and delicious.
• Momo: Similar to Chinese dumplings, but seasoned with Nepalese spices, suitable for steaming or frying.
• Sel Roti: A sweet, ring-shaped fried bread, an ideal choice for breakfast or afternoon tea.
Transportation Tips:
• International arrival: Most visitors choose to fly to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
• Domestic transportation: In Nepal, long-distance buses or private car rentals are mainly used for intercity travel. For short distances, such as Kathmandu to Pokhara, domestic flights can be chosen to save time.
• Trekking areas: When trekking, it is recommended to hire local guides and porters, which not only ensures safety but also allows for a deeper understanding of local culture and nature.

Swayambhunath Temple, Nepal "Monkey Temple".
Swayambhunath Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Asia, has a history of more than 2,000 years. Some scholars believe that it is also the oldest Buddhist temple in the world, 800 years before Kathmandu. Listed in the world cultural heritage.
But the environment is very beautiful compared to the dusty flying poplar in the Kathmandu metropolitan area.

This got to be one of the best places in KTM to chill out with friends especially in the evening with the cool evening breeze and music. It’s a three story restaurant with delicious food and drinks at affordable prices. The back garden gives a very relaxing atmosphere. From the terrace, we can enjoy stunning views of Kathmandu which was the main highlight on visiting here. Christmas is coming up so this would be a nice place to hang out at.

Kathmandu: The City of Temples
#asiatrip
Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal, is often called the “City of Temples” for its astonishing collection of ancient religious sites. Nestled in the Kathmandu Valley, this bustling city is a treasure trove of history, culture, and spirituality, with temples and shrines at every turn.
One of the most iconic landmarks is the Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple. Perched atop a hill, this UNESCO World Heritage Site offers breathtaking views of the city and is a symbol of harmony between Hindu and Buddhist traditions. The stupa’s gleaming golden spire, prayer flags, and ever-watchful Buddha eyes make it a spiritual haven for locals and visitors alike.
Another must-visit is the Pashupatinath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu sites in the world. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this sacred temple complex on the banks of the Bagmati River is a masterpiece of pagoda-style architecture. Non-Hindus cannot enter the main temple, but the surrounding ghats (cremation platforms) and rituals offer a fascinating glimpse into Nepal’s spiritual life.
The Boudhanath Stupa, one of the largest stupas in the world, is another highlight. Encircled by prayer wheels and vibrant monasteries, it’s a center for Tibetan Buddhism and a place of serene devotion. The stupa comes alive during the evening with butter lamps and chanting monks.
In the heart of the city lies Kathmandu Durbar Square, a historic hub of temples, palaces, and courtyards. The intricately carved Taleju Temple and the revered Kumari Ghar, home to the living goddess, are standout features.
Kathmandu’s temples are more than just architectural wonders; they are vibrant centers of worship and cultural heritage. Whether you’re a history buff, a spiritual seeker, or simply a curious traveler, these sacred sites are sure to leave a lasting impression.

Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple): A Landmark Tourist Attraction in Kathmandu, Nepal, Perfect for Photography and Enjoying Stunning Views
Swayambhunath Stupa, also known as the Monkey Temple, is an ancient temple located in the Kathmandu Valley of Nepal, atop Swayambhu Hill in the western part of Kathmandu. From the temple, you can overlook the entire Kathmandu city area. It is a landmark and famous tourist attraction in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The history of the Monkey Temple stupa dates back to the 3rd century BC and is said to have been built by the son of Emperor Ashoka. The temple's name comes from the Sanskrit word 'Swayambhu', meaning self-created, as legend has it that the hill was naturally formed without human carving.
The stupa of the Monkey Temple is a typical Nepalese stupa, combining Indian elements in its design. The base of the stupa is a massive white hemisphere, topped with a golden square tower body. Each side of the tower body features a pair of eyes, symbolizing omniscience. The third eye above the eyes represents wisdom, while the eyebrows form the Nepali number '1', symbolizing unity in harmony.
The entire temple is grand and intricately designed, making it a perfect spot for photography📸. Here, you can enjoy the magnificent views of the Kathmandu Valley and experience the rich cultural heritage of Nepal.

NAMASTE NEPAL ~ SWAYAMBHUNATH TEMPLE
A trip to Nepal would have been incomplete if you did not make a visit here. Swayambhunath Temple is a sacred Buddhist site with many holy stupas and shrines and it is the most important religious site in Nepal. Unfortunately the skies were a bit cloudy when we were there, as we saw the iconic painted eyes and eyebrows on the stupa, we totally forgot about the weather and start exploring the historical holy site. Though it is also known as Monkey Temple, but I think we are lucky enough as we did not bumped into many of them. Walking around the temple gives us a sense of positive vibes as we listen to the chantings from the monks. Many come here to pray. It was really an eye opening when we see how faithful and respectful worshippers are when they pray at the temple.
We were also lucky to have the opportunity to witness the local wedding ceremony happening at the temple. We wish the newly wed couple a blessed new life and happy marriage.
There are also shops and restaurants around the temple. Visitors can find many local handmade products and handcrafts souvenirs around.

Nepal | The ancient Buddhist shrine—Swayambhunath Temple
Built over two thousand years ago, the "Swayambhunath Temple", also known as the "Temple of the Four-Eyed God", is a Buddhist temple in Nepal and one of the oldest Buddhist shrines in Asia; it has been affectionately nicknamed the "Monkey Temple" by Chinese tourists due to the many monkeys that roam freely there.
Swayambhunath Temple is located in Kathmandu, Nepal, where, apart from humans, everything else is considered divine; 60% of the population adheres to Hinduism, 25% to Buddhism, and the remaining people follow Christianity, Catholicism, and Islam. Nepal is one of the least developed countries in the world.
Next to the temple is a Manjushri Bodhisattva temple, which is also recommended for a visit. Its unique architectural style and charm provide a full experience and make it worth the visit.
Location: Swayambhunath Temple
Transportation: Group tour, convenient and quick parking

Walking in the bustling world, whispering and laughing with the years
Meet with time on the unfamiliar road, and talk and laugh with fate
