Angels Landing Hike: A Thrilling Climb in Zion National Park
#outdooradventures
Hiking Angels Landing in Zion National Park during the summer months is an exhilarating adventure that combines breathtaking scenery with heart-pounding excitement. Known for its stunning views and challenging path, this hike is a must-do for thrill-seekers and nature lovers visiting Utah's most famous national park.
Start of the Journey: Scenic Approach
The hike begins at the Grotto trailhead, where hikers are immediately treated to the lush surroundings of Zion Canyon. The early portions of the hike, including the West Rim Trail, offer a moderate climb with scenic vistas, leading up to the more intense section known as Walter's Wiggles—a series of 21 steep switchbacks that quickly gain elevation. The challenge of these tight turns adds to the anticipation as the true test of the hike approaches.
The Thrill of Angels Landing
The final half-mile of the Angels Landing hike is where the true adventure begins. This section is not for the faint of heart; it involves scaling narrow sandstone ridges with sheer drop-offs on either side. Chains anchored into the rock help hikers navigate this nerve-wracking path. The adrenaline rush of carefully moving along the ridge, with panoramic views of Zion Canyon all around, is exhilarating.
The Summit Experience
Reaching the summit of Angels Landing is an accomplishment that rewards hikers with 360-degree views of the stunning red rock formations and the canyon floor below. The top provides a unique perspective of the park, making all the effort worthwhile. Here, hikers can take a moment to enjoy the accomplishment, snap unforgettable photos, and savor the breathtaking landscape that stretches as far as the eye can see.
Visitor Tips
- Start Early: Begin your hike early in the morning to avoid the intense midday heat and the crowds. This also increases your chances of finding parking and enjoying quieter moments on the trail.
- Bring Plenty of Water: The summer heat in Zion can be formidable. Carry at least 2-3 liters of water per person to stay hydrated throughout the hike.
- Wear Appropriate Gear: Good hiking shoes with strong grip are essential for the slippery and steep parts of the trail. Lightweight, breathable clothing will help keep you cool.
- Safety First: Always stay on the designated path and use the chains in the final section. The hike can be dangerous, particularly in crowded or wet conditions.

Best hikes in Arches National Park 🇺🇸
#usatrip
Arches National Park is one of the two national park located conveniently (within 30 min) from Moab, Utah - for those looking to spend a day in this amazing national park, here are my top recommendations and tips:
🏔️ Best long hike: I would really recommend the Delicate Arch trail (📍Address: Delicate Arch Trail, Moab, UT 84532, United States) - it is a relatively challenging hike, covering a round trip distance of 5.1 km and will take you around 3 - 5 hours to complete depending on your physical fitness.
🏜️ Best short hike: the Window Trail (📍Address: Windows Lp Trl, Utah 84532, USA) is the best short to moderate hole for those looking to enjoy their trip without tiring themselves too much - the hike itself is only 1 km round trip and it’s relatively flat, should take you less than an hour to complete. Be sure to look back when you are at the mid-way point as you can see a majestic view of the North and South window side by side!
⭐️ Top tips: bring a ton of water!!! It’s very important to stay hydrated on trail as it gets really hot and dry since the national park is basically a dessert!

Top tips for wildlife sighting in Zion National Park 🇺🇸
#usatrip
Introducing this number 1 tip for those who are looking to spot amazing wildlife in Zion National Park, especially the big horn sheep!
🚗 Best location to spot wildlife: drive along the 30 mile route between the East Entrance and the Zion Visitor Center, big horn sheep, deers, and various birds are active around this area! Be sure to drive slow and stop when you see other cars stopping by to take photos!
⏰ Best time to spot wildlife: early morning and late evening are the best time to admire wildlife as they are generally most active around this time given that it’s relatively cooling compared to peak afternoon!
🐐 Top safety tips: Respect the animal - as harmless as they seem, they can be aggressive if they felt threatened, this is especially true during the mating season! So be sure to take photos from a distance and never get too close to them.

Zion National Park is a dream destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers. Known for its towering red cliffs, slot canyons, and breathtaking hikes, this park offers incredible views and unique geological formations. One of the most popular hikes is Angel’s Landing, which provides panoramic views of Zion Canyon, but be prepared for a challenging and thrilling climb. For a more relaxed experience, the Riverside Walk or a scenic drive through the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway offers equally stunning landscapes. Whether you’re hiking, rock climbing, or simply soaking in the natural beauty, Zion National Park is a must-visit destination. #100WaysofTravel #USA #ZionNationalPark #HikingAdventures
A visit to the National Park 🇺🇸
#usatrip
My visit to Zion National Park in Utah was nothing short of magical! 🏞️🌄 With its towering red rock formations, breathtaking canyons, and serene rivers, Zion truly feels like stepping into another world. The entrance fee was $35 per vehicle, which covers entry for seven days—a great deal considering the countless adventures you can have here! 🚗💸
I started my day by taking the shuttle to the famous Angels Landing trailhead. The hike was challenging, with steep switchbacks and narrow paths, but the views from the top were absolutely worth it. Looking out over the valley with the Virgin River snaking below was an experience I'll never forget. 🥾🏜️ For those looking for a less intense hike, the Riverside Walk and the Lower Emerald Pools Trail offer beautiful scenery with less effort.
I also spent some time exploring the Narrows, where you walk through the Virgin River surrounded by towering canyon walls. Be sure to rent waterproof gear from a nearby outfitter if you plan on hiking the Narrows—trust me, your feet will thank you! 🦶🌊 Nearby attractions like Bryce Canyon and the town of Springdale, with its charming cafes and shops, make Zion a perfect base for a Southern Utah adventure. #trip #ZionNationalPark #AngelsLanding #HikingAdventures #UtahNature #TravelDiaries
