Putien Restaurant in Diamond Hill, Hong Kong.
Located along the coast of Fujian, the cuisine here mainly features seafood, which suits the taste of Hong Kong people quite well. However, there aren't many restaurants in Hong Kong that specialize in Fujian cuisine. Among them, the most well-known to Hong Kong people is Putien. Recently, they even have hairy crabs on the menu, so we took the opportunity to have a meal there.
【Pan-fried Hairy Crab】The hairy crabs are from Jiangsu, quite large, with plenty of roe and sweet meat. There are three ways to cook them: steamed, pan-fried, and drunken. We chose the pan-fried method, which is full of rich oil aroma and quite distinctive.
【Shrimp in Bamboo Tube with Wine Aroma】The shrimp is soaked in hot soup inside the bamboo tube, with a faint wine aroma. The shrimp is large and bouncy.
【Minnan Ginger Duck】Served in a hot pot, the duck skin is fatty, and the duck meat is boneless and tender. Although I'm not usually a fan of ginger, this dish is quite flavorful and unique. Ginger can dispel cold, and it pairs well with the hairy crab!
【Yellow Croaker Fish Soup in Clay Pot】The milky white fish soup is very nutritious, with fresh and sweet yellow croaker fish meat, tofu, goji berries, and other rich ingredients.
【Crispy Fried Durian】Inside the crispy fried crust is smooth durian ice cream and fresh fruit pulp, a must-try for durian lovers.
The restaurant also offers a hairy crab set menu, so next time you can come with your friends to enjoy it!

Weekend Trip to Meizhou Island to Worship Mazu
Meizhou Island, located in Putian, Fujian, is also known as the Mecca of the Sea because of its famous Mazu Temple, which attracts many devout followers. After arriving at the pier, it takes about ten minutes on foot to reach the Mazu Temple. Notable sights include the several-meter-tall stone statue of Mazu and the golden statue of Mazu. The stone statue is situated on a small hill, and it takes about ten minutes to walk up the stone steps. The entire temple visit takes about an hour. After worshiping Mazu, you can enjoy a bowl of Mazu noodles or Peace noodles. We tried the Mazu noodles and loved them. Don't be fooled by the term 'small bowl' here; it's quite substantial. My parents and I ordered a medium bowl, and it took all three of us considerable effort to finish it.
The most worthwhile attraction on Meizhou Island is the Mazu Temple, followed by a spot in the southern part of the island where you can admire unique sea rocks. If your main purpose is to worship Mazu, a weekend is sufficient. Note that during the summer, you should pay attention to the weather and avoid visiting during typhoon season.
🗓️Itinerary: Take the earliest high-speed train from Shenzhen North to Putian in the morning, arriving at 12:43. Then take a bus or taxi to Wenjia Pier. The bus costs RMB 9 per person and takes about 50 minutes. The ferry to Meizhou Island takes about 15 minutes. A regular round-trip ticket, including the entrance fee, costs RMB 125. For Taiwan residents, it's RMB 20. It's free for those over 70. After worshiping, you can return to Putian for the night or stay on the island. The next day, you can continue exploring the island or Putian, and take a train back to Shenzhen North around 5 PM.

Putian: High Cost-Performance Razor Clams
Today, I went to Tsuen Wan Plaza with my daughter. After getting tired from playing, we decided to have lunch at Putian. The seating was very comfortable and spacious, and the best part was the adorable baby utensils 🐥.
.
The set lunch is very worth it! You can choose three special dishes. My favorite was the cold bamboo shoots with vinegar, which was appetizing with its sour and spicy flavor 😋. I also chose the sweet and sour yellow croaker with white rice. The whole yellow croaker was delightful 😁. It was crispy and had a perfect sweet and sour taste, ideal for summer!
.
You must try the razor clams here! For $219, you get two plates, which is a great deal! My favorite was the steamed razor clams with garlic, which were aromatic and fresh 😋. My daughter couldn't stop eating the razor clams stir-fried with golden eggs 😆.
.
We always order the stone pot tofu here. It's hot, slightly sweet, and spicy, perfect with rice 👍🏻. The taro duck is very fragrant and crispy with a rich flavor, and the taro paste inside is super smooth 🥰.
.
The desserts here are also worth trying. The mint loquat jelly is nourishing for the throat and cooling, while the durian dessert offers a mix of hot and cold textures, a must-try for durian lovers!
