Donghu Park, one of the four artificial lakes in Guangzhou, is a nice place for visit or a walk in the afternoon. The lake is really big and divides the park into different parts: small pavilion with beautiful flowers(where you can also enjoy a nice view of Canton Tower and its reflection), exercise area, a small island(there is a tea& coffee place, but now under re-construction), kayak, zigzag bridge etc. It's always my first choice to have a walk in the afternoon and sit on the bench for a while gazing at the small island or read a book, and then head to Guigang market for pig blood soup, and look for some local street food. A 5-star experience indeed. Mactan isn't known for its beautiful beaches but this resort managed to make it look so beautiful. Full of sceneries such as their famous infinity pool and lots of spots to chill to avoid congestion. At night you can go to their beachfront bar with lots of drinks to choose from. That probably was my favorite spot. Service was also great, people were kind and friendly. Food waa not great tho, there was nothing special about it, not even the serving size. Perhaps they can improve on that. For a city of 20-something million people, there are a lot of hiking areas to give you that nice scenic overview of the skyline. For this one, we drove out to Yantian where a hiking path snaked it’s way up the mountains overlooking the city. With sunset on the way we waited with a fair few it must be said locals- all of whom had their tripods out to be able to grab the city skyline. For people bored of the same “inner city” Shenzhen, Yantian’s trails and city lookout spots provide a nice alternative that can be done as a day trip. Stey-Wangfujing Is Beautiful modern design of the room! Has a small kitchen in the room, a fridge with free water and tea. Smart home system is something that was very nice to try out too! Comfy bed, fantastic smell of expensive perfume as soon as you enter the room, good toiletries (if you don’t have a toothbrush, you should tell the staff, they will eagerly provide it but originally you are required to bring your own). Excellent location, right next to the metro station - Dengshikou, literally 5 min walk. The staff is super friendly and helpful! Although it took us quite some time (an hour or more) to register and provide all the green codes since we were traveling still at a “vulnerable” time of covid. The common area is beyond any expectations. Free coffee (amazing one!!) and tea and soda and the space is exceptionally cozy and modern. They have a huge common kitchen with a fridge, an oven (and what not) so you can easily make yourself a yummy breakfast (or even dinner) there. What is an attraction that’s right across the street from Jing’an temple? Well it’s Jing’an park! A great place to stroll and people watch in the heart of Shanghai. 🎹 From time to time people set up big events in the park such as Jing’an Jazz festival where people are allowed to sit, drink and be merry on the grass (typically people are not allowed on the lawn) And when there is not an event happening old pensioners conglomerate into small groups to sing dance and practise martial arts. 🧑‍🍳 The park also has a little lake with a great Thai restaurant to try out and a little hill with great views of Shanghai to check out. It is a little hidden and a lot of people don’t know about it but it’s there. All in all I would definitely recommend this park for a great activity to do under an hour. China’s pyramids: the mausoleum of Western Xia Dynasty in Ningxia Autnomous Region (notice the “xia” in “Ningxia”?
