What fun on a Saturday afternoon - Fresh avocado, a rain shower and a hike! The trail is intermediate, mostly due to exposed roots and some incline. Slow and steady - our 70+ hikers made the 45 minute ascent easy enough. Near the top the Strawberry Guavas were ripe and delicious - yum! KoKo Crater Railway Trailhead (or jsut the Koko Head for short) is a killer hike. It is a challenging but popular hike that’s great for a workout. It takes about one hour to complete but you may need to take several breaks on your way up since it’s quite steep. There are more than 1000 stairs which people call the stairs of doom. It leads up to an abandoned site from where you can see a panoramic view of Honolulu and see the views over Portlock Peninsula.  The views are really worth. it’s absolutely stunning, but do wear a good pair of sneakers because the stairs are old and some are broken so you need to be careful. also you will feel super proud of yourself when you make it up there! good luck! #honolulu #kokohead #hawaii #hikingtrails

A few minutes from Waikiki beach you can enjoy a beautiful park that was originally designed for a queen. The Queen Kapi’olani Garden has beautiful colorful trees, and flowers. My favorite is the white hibiscus. Definitely, a nice green space to enjoy a takeaway or shadow, more quietly than the crowded beach. During my conference, I looked for good options near the near the Hawaiian Convention Center. Waikiki Brewing Co was a nice option to try. Always crowded, has a nice ambience for brunch, lunch, dinner and/or a promising happy hour. Lot of options in craft beer, jalapeño beer was something unexpected, and tasty. Few options for burgers sounded good, but blue cheese burger was definitely the best decision I did. I wanted a coffee after my meal, but the option was not really available. Located in the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, Noi has one of the best Thai food I tried in the Waikiki area. Green curry was my favorite by far. They offer a good variety of dishes and drinks, served in cute presentations. They have a special lunch menu with better prices, and options to taste several dishes on one sit. I visited the same day of my return flight and deeply regret not finding this spot during my vacation week. My mushroom burger was huge, and tasty. I wanted an ice coffee with milk, and they kindly added the milk on the side (as they don’t offer this drink) without extra charge. Courtesy bread was also nice. On your way to Le’ahi park you can enjoy the Aloha Pineapple Cafe. This cute coffee shop is located in Monsarrat Avenue, same street to Diamond Head Crater Park. Iced coffee during a hot afternoon was a delight. Ambience is nice, service also good. One of the few places that offers free wifi in Honolulu. During my trip to Hawaii, my favorite was the coconut ice coffee. The Kahanamoku beach is located near the marina and has a small salty water lagoon ideal to enjoy if you bring small kids. Or you dislike the feeling of crashing waves. This beach has more coarser sand than Waikiki beach, although is quieter and nicer for families. It’s also located near Waikiki downtown, you can either reach there from the marina or the Duke Paoa Kahanamoku Park. Waikiki beach “Walls” area are a big concrete pool that reduces the crashing waves over the beach, good place to stay if you are scare of the sea or bring little kids with you. It’s a safe zone. A small gap in the walls allows the sea flow. This wall viewpoint allows you to enter the sea and enjoy a gorgeous full view of the beach. The International Market Place is located in Kalākaua Avenue, less than 5 minutes from Waikiki beach. This outlet was designed with beautiful tree gardens, water features, and around a huge main tree. In this market you can find few restaurants, luxury shops, free wifi and few charging places for your phone (right next to the big tree). A must visit location after/before the beach. You will have many options to rest while enjoying Waikiki. During my stay, have visited this place every singe day, even just to sit down and take a breath. Kalākaua Avenue is well-known as the main shopping center of Honolulu. Located just behind the Hawaii Convention Center the street starts with a bridge that originates from 1929 over Ala Wai canal. The Ala Wai canal was artificially created in 1928 to drain rice paddies and swamps, to give birth to Waikiki area. Kalākaua Avenue bridge has an amazing view, a great location for morning walk or just wondering around Waikiki. Gives you a great view of the marina on one side and the mountains on the other side. Experience the most beautiful sunset you will ever see on the island of Oahu, Hawaii in the district of Waikiki inside Honolulu 🌅 The palm trees are absolutely gorgeous and you will feel as if you are in a scene from a movie. You can go on hike to Diamond Head to get the whole view of Waikiki Beach. The difficulty level differs by person but overall it’s fairly easy because it’s a very short hike, however, it does get steep, especially towards the end. Once you get up there, the view of Waikiki is phenomenal. In my photos, I’ve captured views of Waikiki during golden hour while at the bottom and also views at the top of Diamond Head, overlooking Waikiki from the top. The hotel is an affordable option near Waikiki and the center of everything. The property is quite big and is slightly dated but nonetheless very adequate and a pleasant stay. The rooms are spacious enough for 2-3 people and the room has all basic amenities such as a fridge and a coffee maker. There was also a balcony in my room which I really appreciated. Other hotel amenities included beach towels, a pool, a refillable drinking water machine as well as breakfast included. I would recommend this property for something convenient yet not overly expensive! You'll also be just 5 mins walk away from the beach, truly amazing! #travel #honolulu #usa #beach

We found that The Bus on Oahu is a great way to get around the Island, Honolulu and Waikiki. A bus pass called the HOLO Card is conveniently sold at ABC Stores and makes getting around for shopping and exploring quite fun and easy.
