Nature’s Palette: Autumn Bliss at Kokoen Garden, Himeji!
#fallfoliage
Visiting Kokoen Garden next to Himeji Castle was a dreamy experience! In autumn, the garden was bursting with vibrant red, orange, and yellow leaves. Walking through its nine different themed gardens felt like exploring a hidden paradise.
Each section had its own unique charm, from tranquil ponds filled with koi fish to delicate waterfalls surrounded by colorful trees. The reflections of red and yellow leaves on the water were absolutely stunning—perfect for snapping photos!
I loved sitting by the traditional tea house, enjoying the peaceful view and crisp air. Kokoen Garden’s beauty and charm made it a magical escape right next to the majestic Himeji Castle!

Ready to step into a UNESCO World Heritage castle?
Did you know that Himeji Castle is one of the first UNESCO World Heritage sites in Japan? It is an ancient castle that dates back to the 1300s and is renowned for its fine Japanese castle architecture!
It was an amazing experience exploring the castle, but make sure you are physically able to climb the stairs. There are many of them and some can be quite steep in incline. But once you get to the top, the view is quite breathtaking.
I recommend getting a tour for this so that you can learn more about the history of this place. We didn’t, so we could only admire its beauty.
My overall rating of the experience: 4 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nicer from the outside
#japantrip
So, I made a day drip from Osaka to himeji. The castle is about 20 mins on foot once you get down at the station. But you already get spectacular views of it while you're walking towards it. I think as much as overwhelming it can be from a distance. It becomes underwhelming when you go inside and though the experience of navigating through huge crowds.
Having said so, it is a landmark and an important piece of history that is not to be missed. It is Japan’s best-preserved feudal fortress, one of the twelve original castles that survives today. The restored version of Himeji Castle is over 400 years old, dating back to 1609. It was never attacked, nor has it been destroyed by natural disasters. This historical legacy coupled with its beauty. Himeji Castle is also known as White Heron Castle due to its white, elegant appearance makes it one of the most popular and revered castles in Japan.#japantrip #cherryblossom2024 #himeji
Tegarayama Botanical Garden, Himeji 🇯🇵
#cherryblossom2024
🌸 Spent a delightful day at the Tegarayama Botanical Garden in Himeji! The entrance fee was very reasonable. As soon as I stepped inside, I was greeted by a breathtaking display of colorful flowers and lush greenery. The garden is meticulously maintained, with a wide variety of plants from different regions and climates. Walking along the winding paths, I felt like I was in a botanical paradise! 🌿
The highlight of my visit was the stunning cherry blossom trees in full bloom. It was like walking through a sea of pink petals, and the fragrance was heavenly. I couldn't resist taking countless photos to capture the beauty of nature. There are also other attractions within the garden, including a greenhouse with tropical plants, a pond with water lilies, and a bonsai garden showcasing miniature trees. 🌺
After exploring the botanical garden, I took a leisurely stroll to nearby attractions like the Himeji Castle, one of Japan's most iconic landmarks. The castle's majestic white walls against the backdrop of cherry blossoms made for a picturesque scene. I also visited the Kokoen Garden, located adjacent to the castle, which features nine distinct traditional Japanese gardens. It was a serene oasis amidst the bustling city. 🏯
Overall, my experience at the Tegarayama Botanical Garden was nothing short of magical. It's the perfect place to relax, unwind, and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. Whether you're a nature lover, a photography enthusiast, or simply looking for a peaceful escape, this garden has something for everyone. Don't miss it if you're in Himeji! 🌸 #TegarayamaBotanicalGarden #Himeji #CherryBlossoms #NatureLovers #JapanTravel
Mount Shosha Engyoji Temple
#japan #engyoji #temple #history #himeji
Himeji is a town located in Japan and is popular among 2 temples the Himeji Castle and the Engyoji. I prefer the less touristy place therefore if you have to choose one, head to Engyoji temple which is located at at the top of mount shosha.
Getting to the top, you are able to ride on the cable car and the temple has a compulsory entrance fee for visitors. Engyoji is popular as it holds a history for more than 1000 over years old and this is also in one of the famous movie called the last samurai starring the world renowned actor Tom Cruise.
Himeji Castle
In one of the Japanese view, this castle is obviously the best castle in Japan. The white walls are so beautiful so that you can watch transparent from Himeji station.
Himeji station is about an hour from Kobe station, 90 minutes from Osaka , 2 hours from Kyoto. If you go to Kyoto or Osaka , I highly recommend you to visit.
Inside of the castle is a museum. You can inevitably feel Japanese past culture. The Japanese garden is great as well.#Himeji #Castle #姫路城 #姫路観光 #姫路観光
Himeji Castle and its Gardens 🏯
My first castle visit to Himeji Castle during my trip in Japan. There were so many levels in the Castle which you can explore, all the while learning about its history such as it's past occupants/families. Throughout the castle levels (especially at the top), I got to take in the beautiful scenery overseeing the castle's surrounding architecture and its gardens (including the city).
Even the entrance and path leading up to the Castle are lined by cherry blossom trees in bloom during the spring period we visited. But if you love greenery/nature the Koko-en garden beside Himeji castle is also a must go with tranquil rivers and a colourful scene painted by a large array of plants and flowers 💮
Tickets are needed for both the castle and garden but can be purchased as a bundle.
Just a word of caution, the steps as you traverse the Castle are quite steep and small so be careful as you try to climb them.
