For around 2,000 ISK per night (about $15), I set up my tent in a peaceful spot with facilities like hot showers and a kitchen—super handy after a long day of exploring. The highlight of my stay was hiking up to Svinafellsjökull Glacier, just a short walk from the campsite. The views were breathtaking, and I even spotted some ice climbers braving the blue ice walls. There’s no entrance fee for the glacier, which makes it even better. If you’re looking for more adventure, the famous Skaftafell National Park is nearby, with its stunning waterfall, Svartifoss, and more hiking trails to explore. Overall, camping in Svinafell felt like I was in another world. #campingfun I recently camped at Camping Höfn in Iceland, and it was a fantastic experience. Located just outside the charming town of Höfn, this campsite is ideal for exploring the Vatnajökull National Park and its stunning glaciers. The price was around 2000 ISK per night (about €13), which was a great deal considering the location. The campsite itself is well-equipped, with clean facilities, including showers and a cozy kitchen area. The views from the campsite are breathtaking, with the backdrop of the Vatnajökull glacier and the rugged Icelandic landscape. I enjoyed sitting by the campfire in the evening, taking in the serene surroundings. One of the highlights of staying at Camping Höfn was its proximity to the Glacier Lagoon (Jökulsárlón), which is about an hour's drive away. Watching the icebergs float by and taking a boat tour was an unforgettable experience. I also explored the nearby Diamond Beach, where ice chunks from the lagoon wash up on the black sand, creating a striking contrast. Camping Höfn offered a perfect blend of comfort and adventure, with incredible natural sights just a short drive away. #myhiddengems I happened to travel to Hallstatt during the peak season. That did mean a lot of tourists around. Luckily since it was an overnight stay. I did manage to use some early mornings and odd hours when it's still possible to find the place to yourself. Having said so, tourists or not. This place is one of those straight out of the postcard European destinations. It's a tranquil place (very quiet too during the early hours I spoke of). It feels cozy, traditional and exceedingly pretty in some parts. Now during my time here i managed to visit an interesting mix of places. Starting with the bone house, which contains over 1,000 skulls from former Hallstatt citizens over the years. The Hallstatt museum gave a nice peak into the history of the place and salt mines. Then i took the cable car to the view point. A further 15 minutes away were the world's oldest salt mines. #myhiddengems While that is the case in winters when everything is covered witht snow. I thought Kitzbuhel can make for such a gorgeous nature destination during the summer. The beautiful medieval city centre is full of designer shops and posh hotels. It is often visited and inhabited by members of the world’s jet set. The scenery is breath-taking. Although Kitz is famous for the treacherous racing piste, slopes are diverse, mainly suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers. Kitzbuhel has great easily accessible freeriding spots. It has a vibrant night life. The views and the nature are spectacular, from the city centre with its narrow, cobbled streets to mountain peak panoramas. When you get to Kitz you will be stopping every 5 minutes to admire the impressive surroundings In terms of getting here.The Innsbruck airport is around 100 km away, so you will need 1h 15min by car. Salzburg airport is closer, 95 km away, but it will take you about 90 minutes to get to Kitz via a car. Munich is 160 km away.
